Women's Soccer Prepares For Senior Day Weekend

| By:
ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State women's soccer team will look to end the season on a high note as it hosts Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. before wrapping up the year with Senior Day festivities on Saturday against Cal State East Bay. The Senior Day game is scheduled to kick off at 11:30 a.m. at College Creek Field.

"Senior weekend is always a special time and this year will be no different," said Head Coach Paul Karver. "This is a group that has given an incredible amount to this program and allowed us to grow in the classroom, in the community, and on the field of play. We talk about standards in our program and this group has set a standard and an expectation that will serve this program for years to come."

Last week the Lumberjacks (5-9-1) took care of business at home as they defeated UC Santa Cruz 3-0 following a five-point (two goals and an assist) performance from team captain Jacquelyn Dompier. Senior forward Alex Jenkins, the recipient of Dompier's assist, enters the weekend as the CCAA's second highest scorer with eight goals. Jenkins is tied for seventh all-time in program history for goals scored in a season.

Cal State Monterey Bay will take the pitch as it tries to improve on its 6-6-3 record. Last week the Otters battled Cal Poly Pomona to a 2-2 tie before they were shut out by Cal State San Bernardino 1-0 to wrap up their weekend. Monterey Bay will lean on goalkeeper Stephanie Busch who leads the conference with seven shutouts.

HSU holds a slight advantage in the series between the two programs, posting a 9-7-3 record against the Otters. Last year the Jacks tied with CSUMB 1-1 in Monterey.

Cal State East Bay dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker in double-overtime last weekend to Cal Poly Pomona and look to get back into the win column. The Pioneers boast a well-balanced offensive attack with three players recording at least 10 points on the season. Abby Buitrago (five goals, one assist), Jamie McPherson (four goals, three assists), and Chace Miguel (four goals, two assists) will lead the charge for East Bay.

Last year, the Jacks traveled to the Bay Area and lost to Easy Bay 2-1. HSU is 8-8-2 when facing the Pioneers.
