CHICO, Calif. – The Humboldt State volleyball team had not seen a set victory since Sept. 4 until a win in set one gave the Lumberjacks a chance to celebrate. HSU ultimately dropped its final chance for road victory in Saturday evening's 3-1 loss to the rival Wildcats (14-11, 7-10).

The Wildcats put the first four points on the board, but HSU quickly matched them. The teams took turns with the lead, and kills from Lauren Reid and Natalie Picone put the Jacks ahead 14-12. The Wildcats responded with four of the next five points and took a lead they carried up until the end. A Reid kill knotted the match at 23-23 before Chico committed two attack errors and a bad set to give HSU a 26-23 win.

Set two started off with a tie that quickly turned to a deficit for HSU. The Jacks trailed for the rest of the set and the Wildcats led by as many as 14 points en route to a 25-13 result.

The Jacks played from behind the entirety of the third set, before dropping it 25-21.
HSU stumbled with a -.024 attack percentage in the fourth set and fell to the Wildcats 25-14.

HSU comes back home to Lumberjack Arena for the final two matches of the season beginning with Cal State East Bay on Thursday at 5 p.m.
