LaJOLLA, Calif.--- The visiting Humboldt State Lumberjacks fell 2-1 this evening to the UC San Diego Tritons in a CCAA match-up at Triton Soccer Field in La Jolla, Calif. The Tritons scored the game-winning goal with a little over 20 minutes left in the match to give them the 2-1 home conference win.
Isaiah Dairo scored his team high seventh goal of the season in the eighth minute off of
Marco Silveira's team leading sixth assist of the season.

Fred Jungemann. "For the most part, we stuck to the game plan, managed the game well, and also created some good chances. Once again, we showed some good spirt coming back from going behind. In the end, we needed a few more moments of quality execution in order to beat a very good UC San Diego team."
FIRST HALF: Brett Jones gave the Tritons the 1-0 lead in the sixth minute right after having a shot on goal attempt stopped by HSU's
Robert Quintero. UC San Diego (8-3, 3-2 CCAA) didn't have the lead that long as the Lumberjacks tied the match at 1-1 on a goal by
Isaiah Dairo in the eighth minute. This was Dairo's team leading seventh goal of the season and Silveira's team leading sixth assist. Dairo had a chance to give the 'Jacks the 2-1 lead, but Pedro Enciso stopped the shot on goal attempt in the 17
th minute. The Tritons had a chance to retake the lead in the 35
th minute when Cooper Lachenbruch's shot went right of the net. The match went into half-time with UC San Diego and the Lumberjacks tied at 1-1.
SECOND HALF: UC San Diego took a 2-1 lead in the 68
th minute on a goal by Cory Daley off a ball from Aidan Cuevas. Humboldt State (5-4, 1-3 CCAA) had a chance to tie the match, but
Angel Rodriguez's shot went high over the net in the 78
th minute. One minute later, Ethan Water's shot sailed wide right as UC San Diego held on to the 2-1 lead. HSU had two more chances in the final minutes to tie the match, but
Nicolas Falco and Dairo's shot attempts sailed wide left as the Tritons took the 2-1 CCAA victory.
GOALIES: Robert Quintero had six saves in goal for the visitors while Pedro Enciso had two saves for UC San Diego.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will stay down south for a 2pm CCAA match at Cal State San Marcos this Sunday, October 13. The Cougars lost 3-0 to San Francisco State earlier this afternoon in San Marcos.
