Lumberjacks to Begin Five-Game Home Stand This Weekend

ARCATA, Calif.---  Humboldt State's volleyball team will return home this weekend to begin a five-game home stand.  The Lumberjacks will begin their home stand with a pair of conference games this Thursday and Saturday, October 24 and 26 versus Cal State San Marcos and UC San Diego.  First serve for both games is set for 7pm at Lumberjack Arena.
 
RECAP OF LAST WEEK:  The Lumberjacks went 0-2 in their road trip to Southern California this past weekend in Los Angeles and Carson.  HSU lost in three sets (18-25, 13-25, 8-25) to Cal State Los Angeles to begin its weekend.  Lenox Loving led the 'Jacks with eight kills while Odelia Ryan recorded a team high nine assists.  Riley Tishlarich had ten assists and Lexi Riggs added three service aces.  On Saturday, HSU lost in four sets (16-25, 11-25, 25-20, 19-25) at Cal State Dominguez Hills.  Leading the way was Lenox Loving with 16 kills and Juliana Bertolucci with 28 assists.  Odelia Ryan recorded 12 digs while Malia Coyle added four total blocks.
 
LUMBERJACK LEADERS:  Humboldt State enters its five-game home stand with a 5-11 overall record and a 1-8 CCAA record.  Lenox Loving leads HSU with her 152 kills followed by Summer Hansen with 149.  Riley Tishlarich has a team high 309 assists with Juliana Bertolucci in second with 180.  Leading the way with her 22 service aces is Carla Crespo while Emma Flewell has 14 and Kayla Costello, Loving and Tishlarich each have ten.  Odelia Ryan has recorded a team leading 250 digs and Loving has 137 and Costello 100.  Flewell leads the Lumberjacks with her 49 total blocks.

COUGARS IN REVIEW:  Cal State San Marcos is 13-7 overall and 7-4 in the CCAA.  The Cougars have won four of their last five including defeating Stanislaus State in four and Chico State in three this past weekend at home.  Olivia Aguilar has a team high 170 kill with Grecia Cordero-Barr recording a team leading 312 digs.  Leading the way with her 418 assists is Aleesa Wheaton while Maddy Newcombe has a team high 64 total blocks and 31 service aces.  CSUSM leads the all-time series with the Lumberjacks 3-2 with the last 'Jack win being in 2015 a three-set win in Arcata.
 
TRITONS IN REVIEW:  UC San Diego is 13-6 overall and 7-4 in the CCAA after winning three of its last four games.  The Tritons defeated Chico State in three and Stanislaus State in four this past weekend at home.  Jessica Rieble leads the way with her 175 kills and 73 total blocks with Isabela Dobra recording a team high 315 assists.  Emily Hubbard leads the way for UCSD with her 25 service aces and 177 digs.
 
THROWBACK THURSDAY:  During the Humboldt State Lumberjack volleyball match on Thursday, October 24 versus Cal State San Marcos at 7pm, the HSU Department of Athletics will be selling vintage Humboldt State Lumberjack athletic gear as a part of Throwback Thursday. This will start at 6pm in the lobby of the Lumberjack Arena and will run throughout the volleyball match.
 
The vintage athletic gear will range from prices from fifty cents to ten dollars.  The gear includes practice gear, backpacks and jerseys from the various Lumberjack intercollegiate athletic teams. 
 
UP NEXT:  HSU will continue its five-game home stand with three games the week of October 28.   The Lumberjacks will host Cal State East Bay on October 29 at 3pm, Chico State on November 1 at 7pm and Stanislaus State on November 2 at 5pm.
