ARCATA, Calif.--- This Saturday, October 12, the Humboldt State Lumberjacks will host their annual Dig Pink Night as they face San Francisco State in a CCAA match-up with first serve scheduled for 7pm. Prior to their annual Dig Pink Night, the Lumberjacks will host Cal State East Bay on Thursday, October 10 at 5pm. Both matches will take place at Lumberjack Arena.
RECAP OF LUMBERJACK VOLLEYBALL: Humboldt State went 0-2 last weekend on the road at Stanislaus State and Chico State. HSU started the weekend with a three-set loss in Turlock to Stanislaus State (16-25, 17-25, 18-25) on Friday evening.
Emma Flewell recorded two service aces to go along with her three total blocks and seven kills.
Summer Hansen had eight kills and
Riley Tishlarich had 17 assists. On Saturday, HSU lost in four sets to Chico State (25-23, 17-25, 14-25, 16-25). Hansen had 11 kills to lead the way for HSU and Tishlarich had 22 assists while
Odelia Ryan added 14 digs. Flewell recorded three service aces and four total blocks.
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS: Humboldt State is now 5-8 overall and 1-5 in the CCAA heading into this weekend. The Lumberjacks are led by
Summer Hansen's 126 kills with
Lenox Loving recording 118. Leading the way with her 262 assists is
Riley Tishlarich while
Juliana Bertolucci has 147.
Carla Crespo has. Team high 21 service aces. Leading the way with her 199 digs is
Odelia Ryan.
Emma Flewell has recorded a team leading 44 total blocks while Ryan and
Malia Coyle each have 23.
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Four Lumberjacks have recorded double-doubles in either kills and digs or assists and digs this season in
Juliana Bertolucci,
Lenox Loving,
Lexi Riggs and
Riley Tishlarich. Loving leads the way with five while Riggs and Tishlarich each have two. Bertolucci has recorded one double-double this season. Loving's and Riggs' double-doubles are in digs and kills while Tishlarich and Bertolucci are in assists and digs.
PIONEERS IN REVIEW: Cal State East Bay enters its match with the Lumberjacks with a 2-12 overall record and a 1-5 CCAA record. The Pioneers went 1-1 last week losing in five sets at Chico State on October 1 and they defeated San Francisco State in four-sets at home on October 5.
Kara Green leads the Pioneers while Sarah Stevelinck has recorded a team leading 209 digs. Eliza Cannon leads Cal State East Bay with her 359 assists and Steena Hubbard has a team high 39 blocks. Leading the Pioneers with her 12 service aces is Jasmyne Love.
Cal State East Bay leads the all-time series with the Lumberjacks 15-5. The Pioneers won in three-sets both meetings last year. The last HSU win was on Oct. 3, 2017, a four-set victory in Arcata.
GATORS IN REVIEW: Sf State enters its Thursday match at Sonoma State 10-5 overall and 3-3 in the CCAA. The Gators went 0-2 losing in four-sets at Stanislaus State on Oct. 1 and at Cal State East Bay this past Saturday.
Drew Morris leads the way for SFSU with her 182 kills with Payton Jenson recording a team high 512 assists. Leading the way with her 37 blocks is Bailey Johnson while Taylor Garcia and Jade Gillespie each have a team leading 23 service aces. Garcia also leads the Gators with her 233 digs.
Sf State leads the all-time series with the Lumberjacks 15-8 including defeating HSU in four-sets and three sets last season. The last HSU win was on Sept. 23, 2017, four-set win in Arcata. The two teams faced each other earlier this season on Sept. 12 in San Francisco as part of the D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase. The Gators won in four-sets over the Lumberjacks despite
Lenox Loving's 19 kills and 10 digs.
Carla Crespo added five service aces and
Summer Hansen had a team high six total blocks.
UP NEXT: The Lumberjacks will return to the road after their match on Saturday with SF State. HSU will be at Cal State Los Angeles on October 18 and Cal State Dominguez Hills on October 19. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7pm.
