HSU Will Return to the Court This Friday Evening in Irvine

ARCATA, Calif..---  After starting the season hosting the West Region Crossover Classic, the Humboldt State Lumberjacks will travel to Irvine, Calif., this Friday, November 15 for a 5:30pm non-conference game with the Concordia-Irvine Eagles in Irvine, Calif.  The Lumberjacks enter the contest 1-1 while the Eagles are 2-0.
 
FIRST TWO GAMES:  HSU started the season with a 70-54 win over Seattle Pacific on Friday evening.  Alexia Thrower led the way for the Lumberjacks with her 18 points and nine rebounds.  Gabrielle Carbajal and Molly Dixon each chipped in 12 points for HSU.  The Lumberjacks forced 18 turnovers and held the Falcons to just 18% shooting from three-point range.  In the final game of the classic, HSU lost 76-73 to Western Washington despite Throwers' game high 23 points.  Dixon chipped in 17 points for HSU while Sandin Kidder added 12 points.  Carbajal scored 10 points and dished out five assists.
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Humboldt State is 1-1 and is averaging 71.5 points per game while giving up 65 points per game.  The Lumberjacks are shooting 42.9% from the field, 40.8% from three's and 84% from the line.  They are holding their opponents to 45% shooting from the field including 26% from three's and 65% from the line.  HSU is being out-rebounded 33 to 29.  Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in Alexia Thrower (20.5 ppg), Molly Dixon (14.5 ppg) and Gabrielle Carbajal (11.0 ppg).  Thrower leads the team with her 8.5 rebounding average, four steals and two blocked shots.  She is also tied for the team lead in assists with Gabrielle Carbajal each with seven while shooting a team high 84.6% from the line.
 
ALL-TOURNAMENT:  Both Alexia Thrower and Molly Dixon were named to the All-Tournament Team of the West Region Crossover Classic.
 
UPDATE ON THE EAGLES:  Concordia-Irvine is 2-0 after defeating Cal State Dominguez Hills 83-75 and Cal State Los Angeles 57-48 this past weekend.  Jasmine Rachel leads the way for the Eagles with her 20.5 scoring average, 66.7% shooting from the field and six steals. Francesca Wade-Sanchez has dished out a team leading 12 assists and Kennedy Fulcher has blocked a team high four shots.  Katie Timmerman leads the team with her 62.5% shooting from three's.

UP NEXT:  Humboldt State will open up its CCAA season with two home games next week.  The 'Jacks will host Sonoma State on Thursday, November 21 and Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday, November 23.  Tip-off for both evenings is set for 5:30pm at Lumberjack Arena.
