ARCATA, Calif.--- Despite
Summer Hansen's 10 kills and
Malia Coyle's game high six total blocks, Humboldt State fell in three sets (15-25, 20-25, 14-25) to the visiting Stanislaus State Warriors.
Odelia Ryan added 21 digs for the Lumberjacks with
Carla Crespo recording 11.
FIRST SET: Humboldt State took a 3-2 lead early on in the first set capped by back to back kills by
Summer Hansen and
Emma Flewell. The Warriors scored the next four points to take a 6-3 lead. Stanislaus State (13-7, 8-5 CCAA) increased its lead to 12-6 keyed by a Krista Hernandez's service ace. Back to back kills by Hansen and
Lexi Riggs cut HSU's deficit to 15-12. The Warriors came scored seven of the next eight points to take a 22-13 lead. They finished the set off on a kill by Rachel Klopfer to take the set 25-15.
SECOND SET: Stanislaus State took a 8-2 lead in the next set keyed by back to back kills by Klopfer. Humboldt State came right back and cut the Warrior lead to 11-8 lead with back to back combined blocks by
Malia Coyle and
Juliana Bertolucci keying HSU's run. The Lumberjacks took a 14-12 lead on a combined block by
Summer Hansen and Coyle. Stanislaus State scored eight of the next ten points to take a 20-16 lead. A service ace by
Carla Crespo cut the deficit to 20-18 for the 'Jacks. The visitors finished the set off taking five of the final seven points, 25-20, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
THIRD SET: The visitors started the third set where they finished the second taking an 8-2 lead to begin the third set. HSU scored six of the next nine points to cut the Warrior lead to 11-8 with
Emma Flewell serving. The Lumberjacks took a 14-12 lead on another combined block by Hansen and Coyle. The Warriors came right back and retook the lead taking eight of the next ten points capped by a Yisel Perez kill to take a 20-16 lead. A kill by Flewell and a Crespo service ace cut HSU's deficit to 20-18, but the Lumberjacks finished the set off taking five of the final seven points, 25-20. With the set three win, Stanislaus State took the match 3-0.

UP NEXT: The Lumberjacks will begin a three-match road trip this Friday, November 8 at 7pm when they face San Francisco State in San Francisco. They will travel to Hayward, Calif., to face Cal State East Bay on Saturday, November 9 at 5pm. HSU will have its make-up match with Cal State East Bay on Sunday, November 10 at 1pm.
