ARCATA, Calif.--- Humboldt State improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA with a 72-70 win over the visiting Golden Eagles of Cal State Los Angeles.
Alexia Thrower paced the Lumberjacks with her 23 points and 11 rebound performance.
Tyra Turner also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists with no turnovers in 40 minutes of action.
Sandin Kidder added 11 points for HSU while
Gabrielle Carbajal added 10 points for the Lumberjacks.

FIRST QUARTER: A three by Nicole Flennaugh gave the visitors a 7-4 lead early in the first quarter. They increased its lead to 15-7 on a three by Sydney Bordonardo six minutes into the first 10 minutes. A three by

Tyra Turner's 10 assists cut the Lumberjack deficit to 15-11, but the Golden Eagles outscored HSU 5-0 in the final minutes of the quarter to take a 20-11 lead heading into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: A jumper gave HSU a 21-20 lead three minutes into the second quarter, but a lay-up by Bordonaro gave the visitors a 27-26 lead with just three mintues left in the half. A three by Flennaugh increased CSULA's lead to 34-26. Two made free throws by Thrower cut the guests' lead to 34-32 heading into the half.
THIRD QUARTER: Cal State Los Angeles (2-5, 0-3 CCAA) took a 44-38 three minutes into the new half. A lay-up by Thrower capped a 11-4 run by the 'Jacks as they took a 49-48 lead. The Golden Eagles finished the quarter outscoring HSU 5-3 to take a 53-52 heading into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: The Golden Eagles took a 62-59 lead three minutes into the final quarter on a lay-up by Alyssa Fisher. A lay-up by Thrower off a steal by the Lumberjack steal gave HSU a 64-62 lead. The game went back and forth until another lay-up by Thrower gave HSU a 72-70 lead with just 15 seconds left in regulation. HSU's defense came up big in the final seconds as the Lumberjacks held on for the 72-70 victory.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Both
Alexia Thrower and
Tyra Turner recorded double-doubles this evening. Thrower had a team high 23 points and a season high 15 rebounds. Turner had a season high 14 points and 10 assists for her first double-double.
19-6: HSU had 19 assists and just six turnovers this evening.
Tyra Turner had 10 assists with no turnovers for HSU.
Sandin Kidder and
Molly Dixon each had two assists while five other players had one assist.
FOUR IN DOUBLE DIGITS: Alexia Thrower had 23 points to lead HSU while
Tyra Turner added 14 points.
Sandin Kidder chipped in 11 points and Gabriella Carbajal added 10 points.
UP NEXT: HSU will host the Thanksgiving Classic on Nov 29-30 at Lumberjack Arena. The 'Jacks will entertain Notre Dame de Namur on Nov. 29 and Dominican on Nov. 30. Game times for both evenings is set for 7pm.
