CHICO, Calif.---Despite
Alexia Thrower's sixth double-double of the season and third in a row, the Humboldt State Lumberjacks fell 60-51 in a CCAA game at Chico State. Thrower scored 30 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead the way for Humboldt State (8-4, 4-3 CCAA).
Gabrielle Carbajal chipped in eight points for HSU.
FIRST QUARTER: Chico State (8-4, 4-3 CCAA) took an early 6-2 lead capped by back to back three's by Daisha Abdelkader and Myli Martinez in the first five minutes of the game. An old-fashioned three-point play by
Alexia Thrower cut the Wildcat lead to 8-5. Humboldt State finished the quarter outscoring its hosts 5-2 to tie the game at 10-10.
SECOND QUARTER: The Wildcats scored the first six points of the second quarter to take a 16-10 lead. Two made free throws by
Madeline Hatch cut the hosts' lead to 16-14, but Chico State went on a 9-0 run to take a 25-14 lead. A free throw by
Molly Dixon cut the Wildcat lead to 25-15 heading into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: Humboldt State (8-4, 4-3 CCAA) opened the third quarter outscoring the Wildcats 4-0 to cut the deficit to 25-19. Chico State increased the lead back to double digits to take a 32-22 lead. An

Gabrielle Carbajal capped a 10-0 run by HSU to tie the game at 32-32. The Wildcats took a 37-34 lead into the final quarter on a three by Vanessa Holland.
FOURTH QUARTER: Chico State opened the new quarter outscoring HSU 5-0 to take a 42-34 lead. The Wildcats increased their lead to 48-39 on a three by Maddy Wong. A jumper by Alexia Turner cut the deficit to 50-45 with 3:01 left, but Chico State finished the game outscoring HSU 10-6 to take the game 60-51.
ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Alexia Thrower recorded her sixth double-double scoring 30 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. She went 12-for-24 from the field and a perfect six-for-six from the line. Thrower also had three steals, one assist and one blocked shot.
HOLDING THE REBOUNDING ADVANTAGE: Humboldt State out-rebounded Chico State 38-36 led by
Alexia Thrower's 17 rebounds.
Tyra Turner had seven boards while
Molly Dixon had five.
JUST TWO: The Lumberjacks went 11-for-13 from the line paced by
Alexia Thrower's six-for-six.
Madeline Hatch went two-for-two and
Gabrielle Carbajal went two-for-three while
Molly Dixon was one-for two.
BACK HOME IN THE NEW YEAR: Humboldt State will return home to Lumberjack Arena to begin a three-game home stand in the New Year. The Lumberjacks will host Stanislaus State on January 4 at 5:30pm. They will also face No. 24 Cal State San Marcos (January 9) and No. 22 UC San Diego (January 11).
