SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--- Humboldt State Lumberjacks improved to 3-3 with their three-set sweep (26-24, 29-27, 25-21) sweep of the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds this evening at the West Region Volleyball Showcase in San Francisco. Lennox Loving led the way for the 'Jacks with her 19 kills, 10 digs and three service aces. While
Emma Flewell chipped in six total blocks and
Riley Tishlarich added 35 assists.

Kelly Wood. "We didn't do as well as we need to finishing sets, but we're going to focus on that going forward. We have one more to go tomorrow versus Dominican. We want to finish on a high note heading into conference."
SET ONE: With Lennox Loving serving, Humboldt State took a 5-1 early in the first set. Fresno Pacific ()-6) scored six of the next seven points to take a 7-6 lead capped by a kill by Makena Ogas. The match went back and forth until back to back kills by
Emma Flewell and Loving keyed a five-point rally by HSU as the 'Jacks took a 14-10 lead. They increased their lead to 17-11 on a combined block by
Malia Coyle and
Emma Flewell. Fresno Pacific did not go away as a service ace by Antassia Barakhoyeva gave the Sunbirds a 24-23 lead. The 'Jacks finished out the set taking the last three points led by back to back kills by
Summer Hansen and Loving to take the set 26-24.
SET TWO: Once again, Humboldt State took an early lead this time a 4-1 lead in the second set. The Sunbirds scored 12 of the next 20 points to take a 14-12 lead. They increased their lead to 17-14 on back to back service aces by Jaaly Sotoa-Stuebing. The 'Jacks came back and took a 22-19 lead on a service ace by
Riley Tishlarich. FPU retook the lead, 24-23, on a kill by Makena Ogas. The match went back and forth with HSU tying the set at 27-27 on a Sunbird hitting error. The 'Jacks scored the sets' final two points on another hitting error by FPU and a kill by Loving to take the set 29-27 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET THREE: Humboldt State scored 11 of the first 13 points in the third and final set capped by a
Carla Crespo ace. Fresno Pacific cut the deficit to 17-13, but a kill by Loving gave HSU a 18-13 lead. The Sunbirds still wouldn't go away as they cut the deficit to 20-19. HSU finished off the set and match as a kill by Loving capped the 'Jacks taking the three of the final four points. The 'Jacks took the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Lennox Loving had 18 kills and 10 digs to lead the 'Jacks. She had a hitting percentage of .391 and added three service aces to lead the way for HSU.
Riley Tishlarich added 35 assists while
Emma Flewell had a team high six total blocks.
Odelia Ryan paced HSU with 19 digs while Loving and
Kayla Costello each chipped in 10 digs.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will finish off its play in the West Region Volleyball Showcase tomorrow at 2:30pm against Dominican. The Penguins are 0-3 after dropping both of its matches in the showcase in three sets each to Concordia-Portland and San Francisco State. After tomorrow's match, HSU will begin CCAA play with three straight home matches this week beginning on Wednesday, September 18 at 7pm against Cal State Monterey Bay.
