ARCATA, Calif.--- The Humboldt State Lumberjacks fell in three sets (10-25, 13-25, 25-14) this evening to the No. 1 Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes (9-0, 2-0 CCAA).
Lenox Loving led the way with eight kills while
Odelia Ryan recorded 21 digs. HSU returns to the court a week from today, when the Lumberjacks travel to Rohnert Park, Calif., for a 3pm CCAA match with Sonoma State.

SET ONE: Humboldt State (5-5, 1-2 CCAA) took a 4-1 lead keyed by back to back kills by
Summer Hansen and
Lexi Riggs. The Coyotes came back and scored four of the next five points to take a 5-4 lead. The set went back and forth for the next two points until CSUSB went on a run and took a 15-7 lead on a block by Lydia Monohunfola. The visitors increased their lead to 21-9. HSU cut the deficit to 21-10 on a kill by
Lenox Loving, but CSUSB finished out the set scoring the final four points.
SET TWO: The Coyotes came out strong in the second set and took a 7-2 lead on a kill by Alexis Cardoza. A service error by the Coyotes cut HSU's deficit to 8-4, which was the closest that the hosts would get as CSUSB took the second set 25-13. With the win, the visitors increased their lead in the match to 2-0.
SET THREE: CSUSB scored eight of the first ten points in the third set. A kill by
Lenox Loving cut the Lumberjack deficit to 8-3. CSUSB increased its lead to 11-4, but the 'Jacks cut the Coyote lead to 11-7. The two teams split the next two points and then a kill by
Lexi Riggs off an assist from
Juliana Bertolucci cut the Coyote lead once again to just four (13-9). The Coyotes scored six of the next seven points to take a 19-10 lead. A kill by
Hannah Cantrell cut CSUSB's lead to 20-13, but the Coyotes finished off the set and the match by scoring five of the final seven points to take the set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
LUMBERJACK LEADERS: Lenox Lovign had a team high eight kills while
Riley Tishlarich had 11 assists.
Odelia Ryan once again led HSU with 12 digs.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will begin a three-match road trip this Saturday, September 28 for a 3pm match with Sonoma State in Rohnert Park, Calif. The 'Jacks will return home on October 10 at 5pm when they host Cal State East Bay.
