ARCATA, Calif.--- The Humboldt State women's soccer team defeated the William Jessup Warriors 4-0 in their home opener this afternoon at College Creek Field. Four different players scored for HSU in

Sabine Postma,
Pikake Hix and
Rose Harman.
Katelin Talbert had three saves in goal for the 'Jacks en route to the shutout.

Paul Karver. The girls started strong, but we lacked a clear identity to our game in the first half, that was remedied in the second half and I was pleased with our response to the challenge. We now have film to watch and decisions to make as we prepare for San Francisco State on Wednesday to open the conference schedule."
FIRST HALF: Humboldt State (1-2-2) took a 2-0 lead when the Lumberjacks scored back to backs goals in the fourth minute. Just three minutes into the game,
Lindsay Stoner's goal gave the 'Jacks a 1-0 lead. Sixty-seven seconds later,
Sabine Postma increased the hosts' lead to 2-0. William Jessup had two chances to tie the match once in the sixth minute and the second in the 13
th minute when
Katelin Talbert stopped Madison Roja's shot on goal attempt. HSU had a couple of chances in the final minutes of the half to increase its lead, but Camille Cavey made three saves including one in the final seconds of the half off the foot of
Valerie Perez.
SECOND HALF: The 'Jacks came out on fire in the second half and took a 3-0 lead on a goal by
Pikake Hix in the 56
th minute off a ball from
Sabine Postma. Nine minutes later,
Rose Harman's goal increased the 'Jack lead to 4-0. Once again, the Lumberjacks had more chances to increased their lead in the final minutes of the half including two in the final three minutes one off the foot of
Selena Osorio and the other off the foot of Jacqueline Seidel.
ANOTHER SHUTOUT: Katelin Talbert recorded another shutout in goal for the 'Jacks for her second shutout of the season. This afternoon, she had four saves in goal for the 'Jacks.
27-4: Humboldt State had 27 shot attempts to the Warriors' four and also had 17 shots on goal to the visitors' four. The 'Jacks also had a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
CCAA OPENER: Humboldt State will return to the pitch at College Creek Field this Wednesday, September 25 at 12:30pm, when the 'Jacks host San Francisco State.
