HSU To Host Chico State and Stanislaus State This Weekend

ARCATA, Calif.---  Humboldt State's men's soccer team will host Chico State and Stanislaus State in a pair of CCAA matches this weekend at College Creek Field.  The Lumberjacks will entertain the Chico State this Friday, October 4 at 3pm.  They will host Stanislaus State this Sunday, October 6 at 2pm. 
 
RECAP OF HSU'S LAST MATCH:  The Lumberjacks' lost 4-2 at Sonoma State this Friday afternoon despite taking an early 2-0 lead.  Isaiah Dairo scored HSU's first goal in the 21st minute and Gus Baxter doubled the 'Jacks lead when he connected on a penalty kick in the 29th minute.  Sonoma State scored four unanswered goals in the final 60 minutes to take the 4-2 conference victory.  Robert Quintero had seven saves in goal for the 'Jacks including five in the final 45 minutes. 
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Humboldt State had its three-game winning streak snapped in the 4-2 loss at Sonoma State this past Friday.  The Lumberjacks are averaging 3.33 goals a game while giving up 2.00 goals a game.  Isiaah Dairo leads the team with his five goals and 11 points as he also has an assist.  Marco Silveira has a team leading five assists and is second on the team with his nine points.  Silveira has scored twice this season.  Israel Gonzalez and Gus Baxter are tied for second on the team each with three goals.  Silveira along with Devin Hauenstein, Dalton Rice and Ethan Waters are tied for third each with two goals.  Robert Quintero has posted a 2.00 goals against average in goal for HSU.  He has started all six games while recording 31 saves and a .721 saves percentage.

HUMBOLDT STATE NATIONALLY:  Humboldt State is in the top 15 in the nation in three team statistical categories.  The Lumberjacks are sixth in scoring offense (3.33 goals/game), 11th in total goals (20) and 13th in total assists (16).  Isaiah Dairo is 27th with his team leading five goals while Marco Silveira is 2nd with his team high five assists.
 
WILDCATS IN REVIEW:  Chico State enters Friday afternoon's contest with Humboldt State with a 5-1 overall record and a 1-1 CCAA record.  The Wildcats are led by Garrett Hogbin's four goals and Mikey Hirsch's three assists.  Jacob Chong has scored three goals for Chico State and Matt Hafizi has scored twice.  Jose Paredes has a 0.50 goals against average while recording 10 saves and a .769 saves percentage.  Chico State holds a 14-3-1 advantage over the 'Jacks including winning the last ten games in a row.  HSU last won on October 25, 2009, a 2-1 victory in Chico. 
 
WARRIORS IN REVIEW:  Stanislaus State is 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the CCAA record after losing 5-1 at No. 7 Cal State Los Angeles and 2-0 at Cal State Dominguez Hills this past weekend.  The Warriors are led by Ryan Kane's three goals and two assists for eight points.  Justin Motzkus has posted a 1.90 goals against average in goal for the Warriors with 31 saves and a .721 saves percentage.  Stanislaus State holds a 15-3-1 series advantage over the 'Jacks with HSU's last win a 3-2 win in Turlock on September 23, 2016 in Turlock. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT:  Humboldt State will return to the pitch for a pair of CCAA matches in Southern California after its two home matches this week. The Lumberjacks will face UC San Diego on October 11 at 4:30pm in La Jolla and Cal State San Marcos on October 13 at 2pm.
