ROHNERT PARK, Calif..--- Sonoma State outscored the visiting Humboldt State Lumberjacks 19-11 in the final seven minutes to key the Seawolves' 79-67 victory.
Isaiah Pope paced HSU with 15 points while
Leland Green chipped in 14 points.
Zachariah Christian recorded his first double-double of the season by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
FIRST HALF: Sonoma State jumped out to an early 8-2 lead in the first two minutes of the game. The Seawolves increased their lead to 15-6 on a three by Isaac Davidson. Two made free throws by
Isaiah Pope cut the deficit to 15-8, but SSU's Tej Johnson gave the Seawolves a 19-8 lead. A
Jackson Strong three off a pass from
Amari Green gave HSU a 28-27 lead with just five minutes left in the half. Sonoma State went on a 10-2 run to take a 37-29 lead, but two made free throws by Strong cut the Seawolf lead to 37-31 heading into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: The Seawolves (5-19, 4-15 CCAA) started the second half on a 7-1 run to take a 44-32 lead. They held a 56-44 lead with 10:51 on the clock, but the 'Jacks would not go away. Back to back jumpers by
Leland Green cut the SSU lead to 60-56 at the 7:24 mark of the second half. A three by Nick Klarman gave SSU a 71-58 lead with less than four minutes to go in the game. A lay-up by
Isaiah Pope cut the SSU lead to single digits, 73-64, with 2:03 to go in the game. The hosts finished the game outscoring HSU 6-3 to take the 79-67 victory.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Zachariah Christian recorded his first double-double of the season scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He also had two steals, three assists and one blocked shot.
JACKSON STRONG: With his two made treys this weekend,
Jackson Strong now has 168 in his career and 79 this season. He is sixth on the Lumberjack career list, two from moving past Isaac Gildea into fifth place. For the season, he is tied with Eddie Whitmire for fourth and five from moving past Austin Bryan into third place.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State (8-17, 4-16 CCAA) will finish off the 2019-20 season with two more games. HSU will be at Stanislaus State a week from this evening. The Lumberjacks will host Chico State in their regular season home finale on Thursday, February 27 at 7:30pm. This will be Senior Night and Think Pink Night.
