ARCATA, Calif..--- The Humboldt State Lumberjacks will conclude their eight-game home stand this weekend with a four-game series against Sonoma State University. The series will begin with a noon starting doubleheader on Friday, February 28. The four-game series will conclude with an 11am starting doubleheader on Saturday, February 29.
LAST WEEK: Humboldt State went 1-3 last weekend to begin its home stand against No. 5 Chico State. The Lumberjacks started the series with a 4-3 win over the Wildcats on Friday behind the pitching of
Taylor Culp and
Lexee Sheiring. Culp picked up the win going 6.1 innings, giving up fife hits and three runs while walking four. Sheiring recorded the save, pitching 0.2 scoreless innings of relief, giving up one hit and striking out one.
Danica Grier and
Izzy Starr went a combined five-for-six, driving in three runs and scoring two runs. Chico State took the night cap 15-2. Then in game one this past Saturday, HSU lost 17-1 and 10-5. In the night cap on Saturday, Grier drove in three runs with her two hits while
Micaela Harris scored three runs and had three stolen bases.
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS: The Lumberjacks are 4-11 overall and 3-9 in the CCAA. As a team, they are batting .287 while scoring 87 runs in 15 games. Three players are hitting over .300 in
Danica Grier (.372),
Micaela Harris (.370) and
Haley Suter (.300). Grier leads HSU with her .491 on-base percentage while
Haley Suter has a team leading .525 slugging percentage. Harris leads HSU with her 17 hits, two triples and 13 stolen bases. Suter and Grier are tied for the team lead with 13 runs batted in while Suter has a team high three doubles. Leading the team with two home runs each are Suter and Dendas.

UPDATE ON THE SEAWOLVES: Sonoma State is 5-7 overall and 4-4 in the CCAA after splitting its four-game series with SF State on Feb. 14-15. The Seawolves are hitting .248 as a team with Giana Hays' .417 average leading the way. Jordyn Martinez has scored a team high six runs and driven in a team leading eight runs. Three players have hit two home runs in Nicole Rener,
Amber Orchard and Martinez. Orchards leads SSU with her three doubles.
