Chico State Shoots Past Lumberjacks on HSU’s Senior Night

ARCATA, Calif..---  Chico State (21-6, 16-5 CCAA) shot 47% from the field to key its 86-57 win over Humboldt State on the Lumberjacks' Senior Night.  Deion Alston paced HSU with a season high 13 points while Jackson Strong chipped in 11 points and Noah Viera added 10 points.  With his three treys this evening, Strong finished his career with 173 which put him fourth on HSU's all-time career list.
 
FIRST HALF:  The Wildcats jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game.  A three by Jackson Strong and two made free throws by Noah Viera cut Chico State's lead to 12-11 with 13 minutes left in the half.  Chico State went on a 9-0 run to take a 21-11 lead with eleven minutes left in the half.  A jumper by Viera off a pass from Amari Green cut HSU's deficit to 23-14 with 9:39 on the clock.  Once again Chico State increased its lead to double digits this time to 29-16, but HSU went on a mini 4-0 run and cut its deficit o 29-20 on a lay-up by Arash Poorsina off a pass from Strong. The visitors finished the half outscoring the 'Jacks 20-7 to take a 49-20 lead into the half.
 
SECOND HALF:  Humboldt State (9-18, 5-17 CCAA) twice cut the lead to 19 including 51-32 on a jumper by Deion Alston off a pass from Zachariah Christian.  Chico State increased its lead to 77-45 with 7:40 to go in the game and never looked back as the Wildcats took the 86-57 road victory.
 
FINISHED FOURTH:  With his three treys this evening, Jackson Strong finished his two-year career in the Green and Gold with 173 which places him fourth on HSU's all-time career list in three-point field goals made.  His 84 treys is third on the Lumberjack single season list.  He made 89 last season which is second.
 
SEASON HIGHS:  Noah Viera scored a season high 10 points off the bench for HSU while Deion Alston had a season high 13 points. 
 
10-13:  HSU went 10-for-13 from the line with three 'Jacks going two-for-two in Jackson Strong, Noah Viera and Arash Poorsina
