ARCATA, Calif.--- The Fall semester saw the Humboldt State Lumberjack Student-Athletes excelling in the classroom once again, as they posted a department median GPA of 3.38, higher than the HSU student body median GPA of 3.16. Thirty-six of those student-athletes were named Presidential Scholars for achieving a 3.85+ GPA (while being enrolled in at least 12 GPA applicable units) and an additional forty-four were named to the Dean's list for posting a GPA of at least 3.50 (also while enrolled in at least 12 GPA units). Overall, 108 Student-Athletes achieved a GPA of at least a 3.5 during the Fall term for any number of units enrolled in.
Overall, each team also showed up in the classroom, with ten teams achieving a cumulative team grade point average of 3.00 or higher, and nine posting a term GPA of 3.00+. Of those programs, women's basketball (3.58), rowing (3.50) and softball (3.47) each set a ten year record, recording their highest recorded term GPA.
"I am extremely proud of our student athletes for the success in the classroom," said Humboldt State University Department of Athletics' Academic Advisor Sei Hee Hwang. "We know it's been a challenging time for everyone but every semester, I am constantly reminded how resilient and adaptable our student athletes are. I want to thank all the faculty, staff, coaches and administrators for always supporting our students."
