ARCATA, Calif--- Humboldt State (8-2-2, 2-2-2 CCAA)scored a season high six goals in the Lumberjacks' 6-1 win over the visiting Cal State East Bay Pioneers this afternoon at College Creek Field. The 'Jacks scored three goals in each half with senior
Marco Silveira scoring one of the six while assisting on three others to key the Lumberjack victory.

Edgar Castaneda also scored goals for the 'Jacks.
FIRST HALF: Cal State East Bay (2-9-1, 1-5 CCAA) had the first chance for the 1-0 lead in the second minute when
Adrian Gallardo made one of his four saves of the day stopping Tommy Flora's shot on goal attempt.
Marco Silveira had a chance for the first goal of the match, but his shot was stopped in the 13
th minute by the Pioneers' Kelekolio Mateo Jr. Four minutes later, HSU did take the 1-0 lead when
Daniel Adeyeye scored his second goal of the season off a corner kick by Silveira. The hosts doubled their lead in the 19
th minute when Silveira connected on his team leading sixth goal of the season off a long ball by goalkeeper
Adrian Gallardo. The Pioneers had a chance to break into the 'Jack lead in the 24
th minute when Gallardo stopped John Kuwano's shot on goal attempt. The score remained 2-0 until four minutes left in the half when
Ramiro Rosas connected on his second goal of the season to give Humboldt State a 3-0 lead heading into the half.
SECOND HALF: The Lumberjacks kept their offensive pressure going as
Devin Hauenstein scored his second goal of the season off a corner kick by Silveira in the 49
th minute. The guests had a chance to cut into the Lumberjack lead in the 64
th minute when Mateo Didomenico's shot was stopped by Gallardo. Humboldt State increased the lead to 5-1 in the 73
rd minute when
Edgar Castaneda connected on another assist from Silveira for his second goal of the season. The Pioneers scored in the 78
th minute on a goal by Aaron Farnan off a pass from Mason Yelton to cut the HSU lead to 5-1. The 'Jacks made it 6-1 when the Pioneers scored an own goal.
SILVEIRA: Marco Silveira scored his sixth goal of the season and had his ninth, tenth and eleventh assists of the season. For his career, he has scored 14 goals and recorded 24 assists. He is second on HSU's all-time career assists and is one goal from moving into a tie for eleventh in goals scored. The senior forward's 10 assists this season is fourth on the single season list.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will continue its three-match homestand with a pair of CCAA matches at the end of the week. The 'Jacks will host Sonoma State this Thursday, October 22 at 3pm with that being their Dam Worth It Match in support of Mental Awareness. Then on Sunday, October 24, HSU will host San Francisco State at 2pm. Prior to the match, HSU will recognize its seniors.
