ARCATA, Calif--- The No. 9 Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes (16-4, 11-0 CCAA) defeated the Humboldt State Lumberjacks in three sets (25-23, 25-11, 25-18) on Dig Pink Night at Lumberjack Arena.
Anna Hospodar led HSU with her eight kills while
Hannah Cantrell recorded six kills and
Lindsey McLaughlin added three total blocks. Ashley Robinson and Alexis Cardoza paced the Coyotes with 24 combined kills.
FIRST SET: The first set went back and forth until Humboldt State (3-12, 2-10 CCAA) took a 14-13 lead on a kill by
Anna Hospodar off an assist from
Kaitlyn Patterson. The ninth ranked Coyotes followed that scoring the next five points to take a 18-13 lead on a kill by Alexis Cardoza. The 'Jacks cut the Coyote lead three times to two including on a kill by
Lindsey McLaughlin off a pass from
Riley Tishlarich to cut CSUSB's lead to 23-21. A McLaughlin service ace cut HSU's deficit to 23-22. The Coyotes finished out the set taking two of the final three points to take the first set 25-23.
SECOND SET: Cal State San Bernardino came out strong in the second set and took a 4-1 lead on back to back kills by Asia Clarke. The visitors increased that lead to 14-4. The 'Jacks cut the deficit to 17-10, but the Coyotes finished the set off scoring eight of the final nine points to take it 25-11 and to take a 2-0 lead in the match
THIRD SET: Once again, the Coyotes came out strong in the third set this time taking a 7-1 lead. Humboldt State didn't go away as the hosts cut the Coyote lead to 16-8 on a kill by
Anna Hospodar off a pass from Rilely TIshlarich. The hosts kept their offense going as a kill by
Malia Coyle off a pass from
Nicole Yakushenok cut HSU's deficit to 18-14. The Coyotes increased their lead to 22-16, but 'Jacks kept battling and the cut their deficit to 23-18 on a kill by
Hannah Cantrell off a pass from Yakushenok. The Coyotes finished the set off scoring the final two points to take it 25-18 and the match 3-0.

Lindsey McLaughlin five.
Riley Tishlarich had 15 assists and
Nicole Yakushenok had two service aces. Leading the way with her 24 digs was
Carla Crespo and Mclaughlin added a team leading three total blocks.
DIG PINK NIGHT: In awareness to Breath Cancer Awareness Month, HSU held its annual Dig Pink Match. Both teams warmed up in Dig Pink Shirts provided by the CCAA office.
UP NEXT: Humboldt State will begin a four-match road trip next weekend with a pair of matches in the Bay Area. The 'Jacks will travel to Seaside, Calif., for a 5pm match with Cal State Monterey Bay on Fri., Oct. 29. They will continue their road trip with a 7pm match on Sat., Oct. 30 at San Francisco State.
