ARCATA, Calif--- Dylan Tovani scored from about 18-years out with less than a minute left in the match to give the Humboldt State Lumberjacks (10-2-2, 4-2-2, CCAA) a 1-0 victory over the visiting SF State Gators on Senior Day at College Creek Field.
Adrian Gallardo posted four saves in goal for the 'Jacks who have won their last four matches in a row.
FIRST HALF: Humboldt State controlled the first half as the 'Jacks out-shot the Gators 16-5. The 'Jacks had the first chance to take the lead in the fifth minute when
Dylan Tovani's shot went over the top of the net. The same thing happened on
Christian Gonzalez's shot attempt in the 15
th minute.
Adrian Gallardo made one of his two saves in the half stopping Markus Just's shot in the 24
th minute. Marco Silveria had two chances to give HSU the lead but both sailed over the net in the 27
th minute. The 'Jacks had another chance in the 42
nd minute, but
Ramiro Rosas' shot hit the post to send the match into the half scoreless.
SECOND HALF: SF State (4-8-3, 0-5-3 CCAA) had a chance to take the lead, but Gustavo Ferrari's shot went to the right of the net in the 51
st minute. The Lumberjacks looked like it they were going to score the match's first goal, but
Marco Silveira's shot on goal attempt was stoppe by Jo Krumsvik.
With just 58 seconds left in the match,
Dylan Tovani connected on unassisted goal to give the 'Jacks the 1-0 lead. HSU's
Adrian Gallardo recorded his fourth save of the match stopping Markus Just's shot to preserve the 1-0 'Jack win.
NUMBER TEN: Humboldt State recorded its tenth win of the season today, which is the most since 2006 when the 'Jacks went 12-7-3 including 8-7-3 in the CCAA. With the win, HSU is now in fifth place in the CCAA standings. The top six teams at the end of the day on November 4 will receive a berth to the CCAA Soccer Championships.
NUMBER SEVEN: Adrian Gallardo recorded his seventh shutout of the season today which places him second on the Lumberjack single season shutout list. Scott Power holds the single season record with eight in 1989.

DR. ROBERT KELLY AWARD: The Humboldt State University Men's Soccer program began celebrating its 50
th anniversary this fall. On October 24
th, the program will pay tribute to Dr. Robert Kelly, its first head coach, when announcing the recipient of the first annual Coach Bob Kelly Award at half-time of a Lumberjack home game against San Francisco State. Naming of the award's recipient was presented today at halftime with a brief presentation to Dr. Kelly's daughter, Tish Kelly-Mick
and grand-daughter Aurora, of a compilation of personal tributes that dozens of former Lumberjacks have written in recognition of Bob's mentoring and contributions to the program and university
. The Kelly Award itself will be presented by Ms. Kelly-Mick to the current Lumberjack soccer player who has best exemplified principles Dr. Kelly emphasized: dedication to self-improvement, a commitment to collective effort, and the value of striving for academic excellence. This year's recipient was
Motoki Sato.
