HAYWARD, Calif--- Humboldt State finished its two-match weekend road trip with a three-set loss (17-25, 20-25, 15-25) to the Cal State East Bay Pioneers this afternoon in a CCAA match in Hayward, Calif. Lindsay McLaughlin paced the 'Jacks with her seven kills and five total blocks while
Gianna Giacomotto added 10 digs for the visitors.
FIRST SET: Cal State East Bay (7-9, 2-6 CCAA) took a 6-2 lead to begin the match. A combined block by RIliey Tishlarich and
Lindsey McLaughlin cut the Pioneer lead to 11-9. The hosts increased their lead to double digits (21-11) on a kill by Ashley Breyan. Humboldt State came back and scored six of the next eight points to cut the deficit to 23-17 on a kill by McLaughlin. The Pioneers finished the set off taking the final two points capped by a kill by Kara Green, 25-17.
SECOND SET: The Pioneers started the set taking a 9-5 lead, but the 'Jacks came back and cut the hosts' lead to 11-9 on back to back kills by Elsey McKinney and
Anna Hospodar. Cal State East Bay scored the five of the next points to take a 16-10 lead. The hosts increased that lead to 21-14, but HSU would not go away in the second set. The 'Jacks scored nine of the next eleven points to cut their deficit to 23-20 capped by back to back blocks by McLaughlin and Hospodar and McLaughlin and Tishlarich. CSUEB scored the set's final two points to take the set 25-20 and to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
THIRD SET: Humboldt State (3-8, 2-6 CCAA) tied the third set at 5-5 on a kill by
Nora Thompson. A service ace by Steena Hubbard gave the hosts a 14-8 lead. They increased that lead to 21-11 as they scored four straight points before a kill by
Lindsey McLaughlin stopped the Pioneer rally. HSU recorded three of the next four points capped by a
Nicole Yakushenok service ace, the Lumberjacks could not get any closer as the Pioneers finished the set off taking it 25-15 and the match 3-0.

Hannah Cantrell and
Elyse McKinney each had five kills. McKinney and
Riley Tishlarich added two total blocks. TIshlarich tied with
Riley White each with eight assists while
Nicole Yakushenok had four.
Gianna Giacomotto led HSU with her 10 digs while
Carla Crespo added nine and
Kaitlyn Patterson recorded eight.
UP NEXT: The Lumberjacks will face Sonoma State this week in a home-away series beginning with this Wednesday, October 13 at 5pm at Lumberjack Arena. The two teams will conclude their season series this Saturday, October 16 at 5pm in Rohnert Park, Calif.
