ARCATA, Calif..--- The visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros held off late Humboldt State rally in the fourth set to defeat the 'Jacks in four (25-13, 21-25, 25-21, 27-25) this evening in a CCAA match-up at Lumberjack Arena.
Lindsey McLaughlin paced HSU with 10 kills while
Hannah Cantrell added nine. Riley white had a match high 19 assists while
Carla Crespo recorded 31 digs. Humboldt State will host Cal State Los Angeles this Saturday, November 13 on the Lumberjacks' Senior Day. HSU will recognize its five seniors in

Carla Crespo,
Lenox Loving,
Jasmine McNeal and
Christa Pilgrim prior to the match.
FIRST SET: The Toros (2-20, 3-14 CCAA) took the first set 25-13. The visitors took a 4-1 lead on back to back kills by Coco Ikpe. Humboldt State followed that as the 'Jacks took four of the next five points capped by a kill by
Macy Thomas off a pass from
Riley White. A kill by Jenna Sandall increased the Toro lead to 15-10. A kill by Lindsey McLaughin off another pass from White cut HSU's deficit to 15-13, but the Toros scored the set's final ten points to take the first set 25-13 capped by an Ikpe kill.
SECOND SET: The second set, Humboldt State (3-17, 2-15 CCAA) took an 8-1 lead. The 'Jacks increased their lead to 11-2 on a kill by
Elyse McKinney off an assist from
Riley White. The Toros came right back and cut the 'Jack lead to 20-18. HSU increased its lead to 23-19, but the Toros cut that lead to 23-20 on a block by Renee Wheeler. Two kills by
Hannah Cantrell keyed HSU finishing off the set taking two of the final three points, 25-21. With the set two win, HSU evened the match at 1-1.
THIRD SET: The third set was tied at 4-4, but CSUDH took eleven of the next sixteen points to take a 15-9 lead. A service ace by
Kaitlyn Patterson cut the 'Jack deficit to 18-15. A kill by Nicole Peery gave the visitors a 22-18 lead. The 'Jacks came right back and cut the Toro lead to 23-21. The guests finished the set off taking the final points, 25-21, to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
FOURTH SET: Just like the third set, the fourth set was even until Cal State Dominguez Hills took a 16-12 lead. A kill by Coco Ikpe increased the Toro lead to 21-16, but the 'Jacks would not go away. A service ace by
Riley White capped six straight points by the 'Jacks. Neither wanted the set until a kill by Nicole Perry tied the set at 25-25 for the Toros. CSUDH took the set and the match as the Toros took the final two points on a block by Renee Wheeler and a Peery kill.
LEADERS: Lindsey McLaughlin had 10 kills while
Hannah Cantrell recorded nine kills.
Riley White recorded a match high 19 assists and
Carla Crespo added a match high 36 digs.
Kaitlyn Patterson had four of HSU's 11 service aces and White and Cantrell each had three.
