TURLOCK Calif--- Humboldt State's
Lindsey McLaughlin recorded her first double-double in the Green and Gold in the Lumberjacks' three-set loss (20-25, 16-25, 18-25) to the Stanislaus State Warriors this evening in a CCAA match-up in Turlock, Calif. McLaughlin had 13 kills and a season high 12 digs for the 'Jacks. The Warriors (12-12, 8-8 CCAA) were paced by Macky Morris with 10 kills while Gabby Rawson added 15 digs.
FIRST SET: The first set was even until the Warriors took a 13-11 lead. The hosts increased their lead to 15-12 on a kill by Yisel Perez. HSU cut the Warrior lead to 15-13, but the hosts took six of the next seven points to take a 21-14 lead. Humboldt State (3-16, 2-14 CCAA) scored the next four points capped by a
Malia Coyle off an assist from
Riley White, 21-18. A kill by Kiara Erving stopped HSU's rally, but a combined block by
Macy Thomas and
Hannah Cantrell cut the lead to 22-19 for the visitors. The Warriors took the set as they took three of the final four points, 25-20.
SECOND SET: Once again, early on the second set was even until the 'Jacks took a 11-10 lead on back to back kills by
Lindsey McLaughlin. Stanislaus State took a 18-13 lead on a kill by Yisel Perez. The Warriors took the set, 25-16 as they took seven of the set's final ten points capped by back to back kills by Perez.
THIRD SET: Stanislaus State took a 9-5 lead on a kill by Macky Morris. Two
Lindsey McLaughlin kills surrounded a service ace by
Elyse McKinney as the 'Jacks cut the deficit to 9-8. The Warriors came right back and took nine of the next ten points to take a 17-9 lead. HSU cut the Warrior lead to 19-13, but the hosts took a 23-14 lead capped by another Macky Morris kill. The 'Jacks came back and scored the next four points to cut the deficit to 23-18 capped by back to back kills by
Hannah Cantrell. The Warriors took the set and the match as they scored the final two points, 25-18 and 3-0.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Lindsey McLaughlin recorded her first double-double as a Lumberjack with 13 kills and 12 digs. She also had a total block while hitting for .109 this evening. Her 12 digs were a season high. The 13 kills tied a season high which she recorded on Oct. 13 versus Sonoma State and on Sept. 17 at Cal State Los Angeles.
LEADERS: Lindsey McLaughlin had a match high 13 kills while
Malia Coyle and
Hannah Cantrell each had four. Cantrell paced HSU with five total blocks with
Riley Tishlarich and
Elyse McKinney each recording two.
Nicole Yakushenok had 13 assists and
Riley White recorded 10.
Carla Crespo had a team high 13 digs and McLaughlin recorded 12.
