ASHLAND, Ore..---
ASHLAND, Ore..--- Humboldt State Lumberjacks men's soccer team recorded their second straight shutout in their spring season with a 1-0 win over Southern Oregon Raiders in Ashland, Ore. The Lumberjacks' goal came off the foot of
Christian Gonzalez on a ball from
Devin Hauenstein.
"It is always a tough game when we play Southern Oregon and today it was more of the same," said head coach
Fred Jungemann. We played well and managed the game we wanted in the first half. "We created three or four good chances and scored a nice goal off a set piece."
In their three matches this spring, HSU has given up just one goal.
Jacob Cotton and
Adrian Gallardo shared time in goal each playing a half for the 'Jacks. The only goal the Lumberjacks have given up this season was in their first match a 3-1 win at Dominican (Calif.).
"We got an unfortunate red card very early in the second half and it completely changed the game," noted Jungemann. "We stuck together though and worked very hard to see out the game. I'm very proud of the effort of the boys."
Humboldt State will continue its four-match road trip this Sunday, April 18 with a 5pm scheduled match with Southern Oregon at Raiders Stadium in Ashland, Ore. You can watch the game at
