HAYWARD, Calif--- Humboldt State's defense held the Hawaii Pacific Sharks to just five shot attempts including none on goal as the Lumberjacks recorded their third straight shutout victory with a 3-0 win over the Sharks this evening at Pioneer Stadium in Hayward, Calif. The 3-0 Lumberjacks scoring attack was led by four different players each with a goal scored in
Dylan Tovani,
Devin Hauenstein, Edgar Castenada and
Alejandro Lopez.
Marco Silveira and
Daniel Adeyeye each had two assists while Hauenstein, Castaneda and
Nicolas Herrera Land each had one.
FIRST HALF: Humboldt State had a chance to take the lead in the 11
th minute when
Marco Silveira's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Sharks' Jeremy Zielinski. Nine minutes later, HSU took the lead on
Dylan Tovani's second goal of the season off a ball from
Devin Hauenstein and
Daniel Adeyeye. The Sharks had three chances in the next four minutes to tie the match, but all were off target. The 'Jacks doubled their lead in the 31
st minute, when Hauenstein connected on a double assist from
Edgar Castaneda and Silveira.
Castaneda had a chance to increase the Lumberjacks' lead to 3-0, but Zielinski stopped his shot attempt. The 'Jacks had another chance in the 36
th minute when Silveira's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Shark keeper as the match went into the half with HSU leading 3-0.
SECOND HALF: The Lumberjacks sealed the win in the 55
th minute when
Edgar Castaneda connected on a ball from
Nicolas Herrera Land. HSU made it 4-0 Lumberjacks in the 77
th minute as
Alejandro Lopez scored on a ball from Silveira and Adeyeye.
THIRD STRAIGHT SHUTOUT: Humboldt State's defense recorded their third straight shutout. This evening the Lumberjacks didn't allow a shot on goal attempt. Hawaii Pacific (0-2) had five shot attempts on the evening. The 'Jacks that played a role in this result this evening were:

TIED FOR THIRD: With his four assists after this evening's match,
Marco Silveira now has 19 for his career which ties him for third place with Kamika Sherwood on HSU's all-time career list. He is three away from moving past Billy Hansen into second place.
GAME-WINNER: Dylan Tovani became the third 'Jack to record the game-winning goal this season.
