ARCATA, Calif--- Chico State Wildcats ) defeated the Humboldt State Lumberjacks in three sets this evening (25-23, 25-16, 25-18) at Lumberjack Arena.
Katie Nall and
Lindsey McLaughlin each had six kills to lead the way for the 'Jacks while McLaughlin added three total blocks.
FIRST SET: The first set went back and forth until Lindsey McLaughin's kill gave HSU a 15-14 lead. Chico State scored six of the next eight points to take a 21-20 lead. A service ace by McLaughlin tied the set at 21-21, but back to back kills by the Wildcats gave Chico State a 23-21 lead. A
Hannah Cantrell kill tied the set at 23-23, but the visitors finished the set off scoring the final two points to take set one 25-23.
SECOND SET: A kill by
Elyse McKinney gave HSU a 8-5 lead early in the second set. Chico State came back and scored eleven of the next twelve points to take a 16-10 lead. The Wildcats increased that lead to 22-13 on a kill by Lizzie Wilson. HSU scored the next two points to cut the deficit to 22-15. The Wildcats finished the set off scoring three of the final four points to take the set 25-16 and increase their lead in the match to 2-0.
THIRD SET: The third set saw Chico State take a 16-9 lead. The Wildcats increased that lead to 21-11. HSU (3-5, 1-3 CCAA) scored six of the set's next seven points to cut the Wildcat lead to 22-17, but the visitors finished the set off scoring three of the final four points to take the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
LEADERS: Katie Nall and
Lindsey McLaughlin each had six kills to lead the 'Jacks. McLaughlin also had two service aces and three total blocks to lead the hosts.
Riley Tishlarich had 13 assists and
Carla Crespo recorded 13 digs while
Nora Thompson had 11 digs.
