CARSON, Calif.--- Despite going up two sets to one early on, the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks failed to close, losing in a deuce in set number four and dropping the final frame to lose their Saturday evening match to Cal State Dominguez Hills 3-2 at the Torodome.
Lindsey McLaughlin's 12 kills led the way for the Jacks, while Mina Barajas chipped in 10 of her own as well as five aces to help the Lumberjack offense. Nicole Yakushenok had a season high 38 assists tonight while also having 11 digs. Defensively, Kaitlyn Patterson had 27 digs to lead the Jacks while Elyse McKinney and Kailie Flores each had six blocks. Avery McIntyre chipped in eight kills, three aces and four blocks in the loss.
Humboldt (2-13, 1-11 CCAA) returns to Lumberjack Arena on Thursday, Oct. 20 when they host the Gators of San Francisco State (11-8, 7-5 CCAA) at 7pm.
