ARCATA, Calif. -- The Lumberjacks had a hot start to Thursday night's "Dam Worth It" match, taking #10 Cal State San Bernardino down to the wire in set one. After Humboldt jumped out to an early 5-4 lead, the Coyotes stopped the Lumberjacks rally and responded by taking an 18-10 lead. Humboldt went on an 8-2 run and grabbed the momentum back from the Coyotes, bringing the set to 20-18. Despite the Jacks' late first set comeback, the Coyotes took set one with a final of 25-20. Sets two and three were controlled by the Coyotes after they jumped out to early leads that the Lumberjacks couldn't bounce back from, falling 25-11 in set two and 25-13 in set three.
Lindsey McLaughlin led the Jacks with eight kills and
Nicole Yakushenok led the team in hitting percentage (.333) with five kills on twelve total attacks. She also recorded 21 assists in the contest.
Mina Barajas had six kills and a team high 17 digs. The Jacks' two blocks both came from
Kailie Flores. Ashley Robinson of Cal State San Bernardino led all players with 14 kills.
Humboldt (2-16, 1-14 CCAA) will host Cal Poly Pomona (17-5, 11-4 CCAA) on Senior Night this Saturday, October 29 at 5 P.M. from Lumberjack Arena. The Jacks will honor their four seniors:
Lenox Loving,
Riley Tishlarich,
Lindsey McLaughlin, and
Macy Thomas.
