ARCATA, Calif.---The visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros outscored Cal Poly Humboldt 47-38 in the final 25 minutes including six to three in overtime to key their 68-65 victory over the 'Jacks.
Jaden Edwards recorded his tenth double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds while dishing out five assists for Humboldt.
Amari Green scored 12 points including hitting the three to send the game into overtime. Green also had two assists and five rebounds.
FIRST HALF: The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 14-6 lead on two made free throws by
Alonzo Washington in the first eight minutes of the game. Cal State Dominguez Hills (10-6, 7-5 CCAA) went on an 8-2 run capped by a Chris Seeley fast-break lay-up to cut the 'Jacks lead to 16-14. Cal Poly Humboldt came right back with a 11-3 run of its own capped by a
Thomas Nelson jumper off a pass from
Amari Green to take a 27-17 lead with three minutes left in the half. The Toros cut the deficit to 27-21 heading into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: The hosts came out of the locker room on fire as they took a 36-23 lead on an
Austin Harris lay-up off a pass from
Jaden Edwards just two minutes into the second half. An Isaiah Morris three-point field goal capped a 18-5 run by the Toros as they tied the game at 41-41 with a little less than minutes left in regulation. The 'Jacks took a 49-43 lead with seven minutes to go on a
Jaden Edwards' jumper, but the Torso cut the deficit to 49-47 at the 5:24 mark of the second half. Chris Seeley's old-fashioned three-point play gave the Toros a 60-56 lead with just under a minute left in regulation. Humboldt cut the Toro lead to just three (62-59) on an old-fashioned three-point play by
Amari Green with 14 ticks to go in the half. The 'Jacks forced a turnover and capitalized as Green hit a last second three to send the game into overtime.
OVERTIME: The Toros scored the first three minutes of the overtime to take a 65-62 lead. A three by

Jaden Edwards tied the game at 65-65 for the 'Jacks with sixty second left on the clock. CSUDH was fouled on its next possession and Jordan Hilstock made both free throws to give the guests a 67-65 led. The 'Jacks turned the ball over, but the Toros didn't capitalize. Humboldt was fouled on its next possession and missed the front end of the one and one. Hilstock was fouled again for CSUDH and made one of two free throws to give the visitors a 68-65 lead with just four ticks. A Lumberjack jumper fell short as CSUDH held on for the 68-65 overtime win.
NUMBER TEN: Jaden Edwards recorded his tenth double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Of the 13 rebounds, 11 were defensive. The junior transfer dished out a season high five assists in 38 minutes of action for Cal Poly Humboldt (10-11, 4-11 CCAA).
GREEN: Amari Green scored 12 points for the 'Jacks this evening including hitting the game-tying three to send the game into overtime. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists.
FOUR GAMES OUT: Cal Poly Humboldt is four games out of the sixth and final spot for the six-team CCAA Championships, which will be held March 3-5 in Lumberjack Arena. The 'Jacks are 4-11 in CCAA play and are in 11
th place. SF State holds the sixth and final spot with its 8-7 record.
UP NEXT: Humboldt will host Cal State East Bay this Saturday, February 12 at 7:30pm in Lumberjack Arena. The Pioneers defeated Sonoma State 80-69 this evening in Rohnert Park. The 'Jacks defeated the Pioneers last month in Hayward, 67-63.
