HAYWARD, Calif.--- The Cal State East Bay Pioneers (12-5, 6-2 CCAA) swept this afternoon's doubleheader from the visiting Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks 10-2 and 8-0 in Hayward, Calif. The 'Jacks will host Chico State this Friday, March 4 at noon to begin a four-game series with the Wildcats.
GAME ONE: Cal State East Bay took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Pioneers scored two runs on three hits capped by a two-out run scoring single by Annelise Garcia. The hosts broke the game open with a seven-run second inning to increase their lead to 9-0.
Humboldt scored its first run of the game in the top of the third inning.
Micaela Harris reached base on a two-out walk. She went to third on a single by
JoAna Mullins and scored on an
Izzy Starr single to center field.
The 'Jacks added another run in the fifth to cut the deficit to 9-2. Harris reached on a fielder's choice and stole her eleventh base of the season. The senior scored on a two-out single by Starr.
Cal State East Bay closed out the game on a two-out two-run home run by Madeline Ramirez to take the game in five innings, 11-2.
'JACK STARS: Ava Hand pitched 3.1 innings of relief, giving up four hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one.
Izzy Starr had two of the Lumberjacks' five hits while in both of their runs.
Micaela Harris scored twice and had her eleventh stolen base of the season.
GAME TWO: The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added another run in the third to increase their lead to 3-0. They broke the game open with a three-run fourth inning keyed by Madeline Ramirez's two-run single. Cal State East Bay added two more runs in the fifth to take the series finale 8-0.

UP NEXT: Cal Poly Humboldt (7-9, 3-5 CCAA) returns to the diamond the weekend of March 4-5 when the 'Jacks host nationally ranked Chico State in a four-game series. The series will begin with a noon starting doubleheader on Friday, March 4 and conclude with an 11am starting doubleheader on Saturday, March 5.
