Jacks to Commence Their Eleven-Game Road Trip with Four-Game series at CSUMB

Annabelle Dixon and her Jack Teammates will be in Seaside this weekend for a four-game series with CSUMB
ARCATA, Calif.--- Cal Poly Humboldt's softball team will begin an eleven-game road trip this weekend with a four-game series with Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, Calif.  The two teams will begin the series with a 1pm starting doubleheader this Friday, March 25.  The series will conclude the following day with an 11am starting doubleheader on Saturday, March 26. 
 
RECAP OF LAST WEEK:  Humboldt (11-19, 6-14 CCAA) went 0-4 against Sonoma State at home on Sunday and Monday.  The Jacks lost the opener 10-1 (5) as JoAna Mullins had two of Humboldt's four hits.  Ava Hand pitched 2.1 innings, giving up one hit and a run while striking out three and walking one. The Jacks lost the night cap on Sunday 6-1.  Izzy Starr had two hits and run batted in while Micaela Harris had two stolen bases and scored a run.  On Monday in game one, Humboldt lost 10-4 despite Harris going three-for-three, scoring three runs and stealing a base.  The Jacks lost the night cap 13-3 as Harris had three hits, scored twice and had two stolen bases.  Megan Escobar had two hits and drove in a run. 
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS' OFFENSE:  Cal Poly Humboldt has a team batting average of .292 with four players hitting over .300 in Micaela Harris (.434), JoAna Mullins (.398), Izzy Starr (.356) and Vanssa Saltos (.301).  Harris leads Humboldt with her 27 stolen bases, seven triples, 43 hits, .500 on-base percentage and .737 slugging percentage.  Starr has driven in a team leading 29 runs and has a team high eight doubles.  Saltos lead the Jacks with her nine home runs.
 
LUMBERJACKS PITCHING STAFF IN REVIEW:  Humboldt's team earned run average (ERA) is 6.90.  Karen Di Dio leads the Jacks with her six wins, team low 4.84 earned run average and team high 39 strikeouts. 
 
MONTEREY BAY IN REVIEW:  Cal State Monterey Bay enters this weekend with a 15-10 overall record including a 7-9 CCAA record.  The Otters have a team batting average of .302 and a team earned run average of 1.81.  Jessica Cross leads the team with her .392 batting average, .477 on-base percentage and 29 hits.  Oli Perez has driven in a team high 17 runs and posted a .615 slugging percentage.  She also leads the team with her 14 runs scored and four home runs.  Ally Alcayaga has a team high eight doubles.  Cassie Gasper leads the pitching staff with her team low 0.95 earned run average and two saves.  Jensen Main has won a team high eight victories with a team leading 62 strikeouts. 
 
27-26 JACK:  Humboldt leads the all-time series 27-26 with Cal State Monterey Bay.  The Otters won the last four games in Seaside in 2020.  The Jacks' last win over the Otters was on April 27, 2019 in Arcata a 10-7 win.  Their last win in Seaside was on April 8, 2018, a 4-3 win.
 
AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS:  Humboldt leads the conference in home runs and slugging percentage.  The Jacks are second in triples and doubles while they are fourth in stolen bases and fifth in runs scored, hits, runs batted in and on-base percentage.  Micaela Harris leads the CCAA in triples and stolen bases while she sis second in hits and runs scored.  She is also third in average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.  Izzy Starr is second in runs batted in, seventh in hits, tied for eighth in home runs and eighth in doubles.  JoAna Mullins is sixth in hits and runs batted in and ninth in average.  Vanessa Saltos is first in home runs and fifth in slugging percentage.   
 
NATIONAL LEADERS:  Micaela Harris leads the nation in triples and is fourth in stolen bases.  She is 11th in stolen bases per game and 12th in triples per game.  Vanessa Saltos is 15th in home runs.
 
56 FOR 57:   Micaela Harris is now 56-for-57 in stolen base attempts since 2020.  She went 18 for 18 in 2020, 11 for 11 in 2021 and is 27 for 28  this season.  For her career, Harris is 92 for 93 in stolen base attempts. The senior outfielder/catcher is fifth on the Lumberjacks' all-time list.  She is fourth on the top ten career list at Humboldt just from moving past Kathryn Hutchings into third place.

ROAD TRIP CONTINUES: Cal Poly Humboldt continues their road trip with five games in the Tournament of Champions in Turlock.  The Jacks will face Western Washington and Hawaii Pacific on April 1, Hawaii Hilo and Azusa Pacific on April 2 and No. 2 Concordia Irvine on April 3.  Their 11-game road trip will conclude on April 5 with a non-conference doubleheader in San Rafael against Dominican.
