ARCATA, Calif. -- Cal Poly Humboldt Men's Soccer picked up a point at home on Thursday afternoon when they earned a 0-0 draw against Stanislaus State. Despite the Stan State offense creating a significant amount of more opportunities, the Lumberjack back line and performance from goalkeeper
Adrian Gallardo prevailed to hold the Warriors scoreless.
The 'Jacks didn't see their first shot on goal come until the 31st minute when
Duke Romanchak drove the ball into the bottom right corner that was eventually saved by the Warrior goalkeeper. It was the only shot on goal in the first half for Humboldt. Although Stan State created more opportunities in the first half and had more shots on goal, they were unsuccessful in taking the advantage. The teams went into halftime tied 0-0.
Eight minutes into the second half,
Marcus Abdel-Malek took a shot on goal that went to the bottom left corner that was saved by the keeper. The final opportunity to score came from
Cooper Stephens in the 71st minute when a ball that was sent to the bottom center was yet again saved by the Stan State keeper. Despite being out-shot 10-3 in the second half and allowing six Warrior corner kicks, the Lumberjack defense held off the Warriors from scoring.
Adrian Gallardo had another solid performance at keeper, as he faced two shots on goal in the final five minutes of the match to finalize the draw at 0-0.
