LOWELL, Ore. — The No. 2 nationally-ranked Cal Poly Lumberjacks had a productive weekend, winning three races and finishing runner-up in two others at the Covered Bridge Regatta at Dexter Reservoir on Saturday.
The Jacks' started things off with a second place finish in the varsity 4+ race behind GNAC foe and No. 6 ranked Western Washington. The Vikings took the race victory in a time of 8:11.24, three seconds clear of the Green & Gold, who navigated the course in 8:14.26. Humboldt finished nearly 20 seconds ahead of third place Oregon (8:33.85).
The North Coast squad was able to take its revenge over Western Washington in the varsity 8+ event, taking down the Vikings by four seconds to take a first place finish in 7:11.91. In the second V4+ race of the day, the Jacks took victory again over Oregon with a 8:00.18 finish.
Humboldt also had a race win in the JV4+ race (8:26.22) and a runner-up finish in the JV/N8+ race (8:00.98).

The No.2 ranked Lumberjacks will regroup and recover these next two weekends in preparation for the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, California. After that, the North Coast squad will travel to Dexter Reservoir again for the GNAC Championships on Saturday, May 13.
