ARCATA, Calif. -- The Cal Poly Humboldt men's and women's basketball teams saw five athletes named to the 2022-23 CCAA Winter Academic Honor Roll, including Jayci Bayne, Amari Green, Delilah Kimble-Gray, Gracie Lee, and Kaz Parks. Green and Parks were also named All-Academic in 2021-22.

The CCAA Academic Honor Roll saw a 20 percent increase from last year as 106 men's and women's basketball student-athletes earned the honor for Winter 2022-23.
 
Cal State East Bay and Sonoma State led the conference with 14 CCAA Honor Roll recipients each. Both the Seawolves and the Pioneers each had six men and eight women's basketball student-athletes collect the honor. Cal State San Marcos finished third with 11 honorees. Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA tied for fourth with nine selections apiece. All 12 CCAA member-institutions were represented by at least five student-athletes.
 
Of the 106 honor roll selections, 41 repeat winners. The list also features 28 three-time winners, and three four-time winners. Justin Vigil (Chico State), Haley Ison (Chico State) and Taylor Johnson (Sonoma State) all had the opportunity to collect the award in all four seasons of eligibility.
 
Women's basketball topped the list with 62 honorees, followed by the men with 44. Both genders saw at least a 16 percent increase from last year.
 
The CCAA recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter and spring – for all CCAA-sponsored sports. The CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll consists of eligible student-athletes who compete in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball. The Winter Academic Honor Roll will honor men's and women's basketball players, with the Spring Academic Honor Roll consisting of student-athletes from men's and women's golf, men's and women's track and field, softball, and baseball. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be of sophomore standing athletically at the start of the playing season and may include graduate students, shall have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.3, and shall have competed in the sport in that season.
