ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt Department of Athletics' Hall of Fame Ceremony for the Class of 2023 is set for October 27th at the Baywood Golf & Country Club. This year's class includes the 2008 Softball Team, Austin Bryan (Men's Basketball, 2012-15),
Kate Eilers (Women's Track & Field, 2013-15), Molly Fisher (Rowing, 2009-12), Brett Frydendall (Football, 2009-12), Rob Smith (Head Football Coach, 2008-17), and Mariah Smither (Rowing, 2013-16). To purchase Hall of Fame tickets, please

2008 Softball Team: The 2008 Softball Team was coached by legendary coach Frank Cheek. Humboldt won the NCAA Division II National Championship in Houston, Texas without losing a game during the tournament. The team also won the West Regional Championship. The coaching staff was named the NFCA/NCAA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year. Hall of Famer's from this team include Marissa Slattery, Lizzy Prescott, Nikki Ketteringham, and Natalie Galletly.
Austin Bryan (Men's Basketball, 2012-15): Austin Bryan was a 2015 NCAA All-Region Second Team recipient, 2015 NCAA All-District Second Team recipient, 2015 First Team All-CCAA recipient, and 2013 Second Team All-CCAA recipient. The sharpshooter led the CCAA with 60 three-pointers and a 44.1 three-point percentage in 2015. For school rankings, Bryan is No. 7 all-time in career three-point field goals (164), No. 2 all-time in career free throw percentage (85.4), No. 1 all-time in single-season free throw percentage (90.1 in 2015), No. 3 all-time in single-season three-point field goals (83 in 2015).
Kate Eilers (Women's Track & Field, 2013-15): Kate Eilers, formerly known as Kate Earle, qualified for the Heptathlon at the 2015 NCAA National meet, where she finished 14
th in the country for Division II. Eilers was named 2015 CCAA Female Track & Field Co-Athlete of the Year, was a CCAA champion in the 100-meter hurdles (14.22) and the women's long jump (19 feet, 7 inches). She also was a USTFCCCA All-West Region recipient in the heptathlon and long jump. To go along with these accolades, Eilers was a NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee. Her school records include: 1st all-time in the long jump (19 feet, 7 inches in 2015), 2nd all-time in the 100-meter hurdles (14.22 in 2015), 5th all-time in the high jump (5 feet, 6.5 inches in 2015), 2nd all-time in the heptathlon (5015 points in 2015). Academically, Eilers was a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team in 2015 and named a recipient of the 2015 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award by the CCAA.
Molly Fisher (Rowing, 2009-12): Molly Fisher was apart of the first women's rowing national championship team in 2012, who also won the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference (NCRC) title in 2012. As a rower on the Varsity-8 boat in 2012, Fisher was named an NCAA First Team All-American. In 2011, she was a First Team All-CRCA recipient and the team finished third in the nation.
Brett Frydendall (Football, 2009-12): Brett Frydendall was named a NCAA First Team All-American in 2012 (Beyond Sports Network), Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Offensive Linemen of the Year in 2012, and was a 2x First Team All-GNAC selection in 2011 and 2012. Frydendall was apart of the 2011 GNAC Championship team and blocked for quarterback Mike Proulx, who was named the 2011 GNAC Offensive Player of the Year. The following season, Frydendall blocked for the 2012 GNAC Offensive Player of the Year in running back Nick Ricciardulli.
Rob Smith (Head Football Coach, 2008-17): Rob Smith is a 4x GNAC Coach of the Year recipient (2010, 2011, 2014, and 2015). Smith coached two GNAC championship teams in 2011 and 2015, guided the program to their first NCAA postseason appearance (2015) since 1968, and first home playoff game since 1960. Rob Smith will become the third football coach to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as he joins Phil Sarboe and Bud Van Deren.
Mariah Smither (Rowing, 2013-16): Mariah Smither was named a First Team Pocock All-American in 2016 and apart of the 2014 NCAA National Championship team on the Varisty 8 boat. Smither was not only a champion on the water, but she was also a champion in the classroom. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA in Biology, is a 2x recipient of the NCAA's Elite 90 Award (an honor bestowed to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site), a Capital One Academic All-American in 2015, and a 2014 CRCA National Scholar-Athlete.
During the weekend of October 26-29, the Cal Poly Humboldt men's soccer, women's soccer, and volleyball teams will all be in action at home. The schedule is listed below:
- Thursday, October 26 at 7:00 PM - Women's Volleyball vs. Cal State East Bay
- Friday, October 27 at 12:30 PM (Women) and 3:00 PM (Men) - Soccer vs. Cal State Dominguez Hills
- Saturday, October 28 at 5:00 PM - Women's Volleyball vs. Cal State Monterey Bay
- Sunday, October 29 at 11:30 AM (Women) and 2:00 PM (Men) - Soccer vs. Cal State LA
All volleyball matches will take place inside of Lumberjack Arena and all soccer matches will take place at College Creek Field on campus. All events will be FREE admission.
The softball team will also be hosting their Annual Alumni Game on Saturday, October 28 from Humboldt Softball Field with a time to be announced soon.
On Friday, October 27, the Class of 2023 Hall of Fame Ceremony & Dinner will take place at Baywood Golf and Country Club in Arcata, Calif. The doors will open at 5 PM and dinner will be served at 6 PM, followed by the Induction Ceremony. To purchase Hall of Fame tickets, please
