ARCATA, Calif. -- For the first time since December 2
nd, Cal Poly Humboldt returned to their home floor and took on the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters Thursday evening. A dogfight down the stretch saw a two-point game with 16 seconds remaining slip away from the Lumberjacks and Monterey Bay held on for a final score of 76-70.
Rob Diaz III was the highlight for the jacks as he posted his third consecutive 20-point game, recording 20 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Meanwhile,
Chase Hettinger posted a season-high 12 points on 80% shooting from three-point range.
Being down by as much as 10 in the first half, the Lumberjacks managed to cut the deficit to five points at the half, 36-31. Humboldt managed to tie the game with 13:29 after Kareen Clark made a mid-range jumper to even the score at 48. With 9:30 left,
Rob Diaz III gave the Jacks their first second-half lead, 54-52, after sinking a jumper. Humboldt maintained their lead for three minutes before the Otters surged back to go up by seven points with four minutes to play. A

Kareem Clark drove to the basket and made a layup to make it 72-70, but the Otters pulled away after the Jacks were forced to foul. Monterey Bay held on with a final score of 76-70.
