Humboldt Falls to Dominguez Hills in Tough Road Contest

CARSON, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt (2-5-3, 1-2-1 CCAA) faced a tough battle on the road, dropping a 6-0 decision to Cal State Dominguez Hills (4-4-2, 1-0-2 CCAA) at Toro Stadium on Friday evening. Despite generating several opportunities, the 'Jacks were unable to find the back of the net against the Toros' disciplined defense.

The Toros took early control of the match, with Mikey McKibbin leading the charge. McKibbin opened the scoring just 2:33 into the match, assisted by Jose Peredia. McKibbin doubled the lead less than ten minutes later with his second goal of the game, assisted by Ndifor Ginyui and Ramiro Rosas, making it a challenging uphill battle for the Lumberjacks.

Cal State Dominguez Hills extended their lead to 4-0 by halftime, with goals from Peredia at the 16:46 mark and Zach Eichelberger at 37:29, further asserting their dominance on the pitch. Humboldt's defense faced immense pressure throughout, managing to hold the Toros scoreless for the first 28 minutes of the second half, but two more goals from the hosts—one from Cland Iwasaki at 65:16 and another by Gavin Brummer at 73:07—sealed the result.

Humboldt produced eight shots, with three of those on target, but the Toros' defense and goalkeeper held firm. Cal Poly Humboldt's best opportunities came through a strong first half, where they managed seven shots, but the team struggled to maintain that momentum in the second half, recording just one additional attempt.

Toros goalkeeper was tested early but collected three saves en route to the clean sheet. Lumberjack keeper Adrian Gallardo tallied four saves, and Alvaro Nieves had one save in his first appearance of the season.

Despite the result, Cal Poly Humboldt showed moments of promise, especially in creating six corner kick opportunities, two more than their opponent. However, the high foul count from the Toros (11 fouls to Humboldt's 4) disrupted much of Humboldt's offensive rhythm.
