SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt (7-14, 3-10 CCAA) fought hard on the road against Cal State San Marcos (5-15, 3-10 CCAA) but fell in four sets on Friday evening at The Sports Center. Despite winning the third set and several individual standout performances, the Lumberjacks could not overcome the Cougars, who claimed the match with scores of 25-21, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20.

Humboldt showcased a competitive offense, logging a .208 hitting percentage over the match compared to San Marcos' .304. The Lumberjacks led with 59 kills to the Cougars' 52 but were unable to carry their offensive momentum through all four sets.
In the opening set, Humboldt was led by standout performances from
Awelina Fakalata and
Madyn Cervellera. However, San Marcos' efficiency at the net, with a .310 hitting percentage, allowed them to take the set 25-21. The Cougars continued to press in the second set, hitting at an impressive .435, resulting in a 25-16 victory. Humboldt responded in the third, hitting a dominant .417 with 18 kills and taking the set 25-21, but the Cougars pulled away in the fourth, sealing the match with a 25-20 win.

Madyn Cervellera recorded her 7th double-double of the season, tallying 14 kills and 14 digs, and marked her third match this season hitting above .300.

Kellogg Arena at 3:00 PM in Pomona. The 'Jacks are one of three teams to take a set from the first place and nationally ranked Broncos this season. This contest will be another matchup for the inaugural
Cal Poly Clash that began this season between the only Cal Poly's in the CCAA, Humboldt of the north and Pomona of the south.
