ARCATA, Calif. – Despite a strong start and a competitive effort through three quarters, the Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball team fell 77-60 to Northwest Nazarene in their home opener Saturday evening at Lumberjack Arena. The 'Jacks entered the fourth quarter trailing by just three but were outscored 18-4 in the final frame, sealing the game for the visiting Nighthawks.
Humboldt (1-4, 0-0 CCAA) was led by an impressive performance from Kyori Lloyd, who came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including two three-pointers, while also grabbing five rebounds. Riley Sanz posted a near double-double with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Marley Johnson provided a spark with 12 points, hitting four three-pointers in just 18 minutes of play.
The Lumberjacks looked sharp early, shooting 56.3% in the first quarter to take a 21-18 lead. Humboldt's perimeter shooting was a key factor throughout the game, especially in the third quarter when the team knocked down four three-pointers to keep the contest tight. However, the fourth quarter proved challenging as the 'Jacks went cold from the field, missing all 12 of their attempts while Northwest Nazarene (4-2, 0-0 GNAC) pulled away with efficient scoring and went on a 20-0 run.
Northwest Nazarene's Kendall Clark led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 9-of-14 from the field and adding eight rebounds. The Nighthawks also benefited from Madeline Gebers' 13 points, while their defense forced 26 Humboldt turnovers, leading to 29 points off those miscues.

Humboldt will return to Lumberjack Arena on Saturday, November 30 for the conference opener against Chico State. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
