SALEM, Ore. — In a closely contested dual, the Cal Poly Humboldt wrestling team came up just short against No. 13-ranked Corban University, falling 26-23 on Saturday evening. The Lumberjacks showcased resilience and determination, winning five of the ten matchups and pushing one of the nation's top NAIA programs to the limit.

The dual began with a dominant performance by Caleb Tatad at 125 pounds. Tatad set the tone with a technical fall victory, defeating Brayden Boyd in just 2:44 by a 15-0 margin. The momentum continued at 133 and 141 pounds, where Josh Neiwert and Nathan Aguilar added back-to-back wins via forfeit, building an early team lead.

In one of the evening's most exciting bouts, Jayson Victoria delivered a gritty 7-2 decision over Corban's Bo Davis at 149 pounds, extending the Lumberjacks' advantage. Although Corban's David Rubio edged Gil Mossburg in a 6-4 decision at 157 pounds, Humboldt regained momentum with Cole Zoller's commanding 9-3 decision over Jesse Rubio at 165 pounds.

Corban rallied in the upper weights, with Tyson Stover earning a technical fall at 174 pounds and Isaiah Twait picking up a forfeit at 184 pounds. Despite strong efforts from Humboldt's Abdurrahmann Garner and Carson Hatch, Corban's Hunter James and Antonio Garcia secured consecutive pins at 197 and 285 pounds, sealing the narrow victory for the Warriors.
