TRACK & FIELD
Over the spring break Isabel Perez-Zoghbi competed in the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. She placed 17th with a time of 2:16.31. Outdoor Track & Field opened up their season in Chico at the Wildcat Invitational on March 9. Joy Hano earned herself a NCAA Division II Provisional mark in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.02 seconds. Other performances of note include: Mia Roberts placing 3rd in the 100m dash with a PR of 12.54, Cadence Peery finishing 4th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.63, Joy Hano placing 3rd in the 200m with a time of 25.89, Cocome McKamey earned a PR placing 3rd in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.79, Ginny Brooks finished 4th in the 100m hurdles with a 15.44 PR, Grace Kasberger placed 6th with a time of 15.89, lastly the women's 4x100 relay (Mia Roberts, Grace Kasberger, Cadence Perry, and Joy Hano) finished on top with the 7th fastest time in Humboldt History (48.41).Â

On the men's side Ryan Castro ran a 10.73 100m prelim, earning himself a PR and recording the 4th fastest time in Humboldt history. Finishing the 8th fastest in history was Christian Megas with a 10.79 100m prelim. Castro placed 3rd (10.91) and Megas placed 6th (11.00) in the 100m final. Moving to the 200m, Megas placed 2nd (21.92) and Joey Bowser 5th (22.41). Walker Dorris took 2nd place for the men's 110m hurdles posting a time of 15.73. In the 400m, Grant Van Emmerik finished with a time of 48.86 placing 2nd and Bowser placed 6th (50.89). The 4x400m A squad relay team (Evan Schweitzer, Julian Jensen, Joey Bowser, and Grant Van Emmerik) finished 2nd with a time of 3:25.75. Not far behind was the C squad (Walker Dorris, Michael DeTamble, Landon Thorp, and Lucas Garin) finishing with a time of 3:26.47 placing third.Â

Finally in the field events Bryce Pearson took 4th place in the high-jump (1.84m). Paul Domingue (13.43m) and Taylyn Henry (10.36m) both earned the win in the triple jump for the men and women. In the long jump Ginny Brooks finished 2nd place with a 5.24m. Erin Bechtold won the women's pole vault with a 3.35m PR, making her 3rd all-time.Â

The 'Jacks are back in action on March 22 & 23 to compete in the Oregon Preview. It will be hosted in Eugene, Oregon.Â

ROWING
Humboldt traveled to their first regatta of the season on March 9 to compete in the Sacramento State Invitational. Times for each team are as follows: V4 - fourth place (8:37.5), 2V8 - fourth place (7:22.4), V8 - fourth place (7:02.6), 3V/N8 - second place (7:47.5). On Sunday March 10 they competed in the Davis Invite. There are no times available due to this being an exhibition regatta. The 'Jacks are back in action March 23 as they travel to the Falcon Regatta in Seattle, Washington. The regatta starts at 8 AM.Â

SOFTBALL
Humboldt traveled down to the bay for spring break where they played Dominican University and San Francisco State. On Wednesday March 13 the 'Jacks faced off with the Penguins in a double header. This first game of the day the 'Jacks were unable to respond back after a six run first inning by Dominican. The final score was 9-2. The highlight of game one was sophomore Shelby Shanks earning her first collegiate home run over the left field fence. Game two of the day Humboldt came out swinging, recording 11 hits. Two of those hits were from Izzy Starr launching the ball over the fence recording two home runs and 3 RBI's. Vanessa Richie and Alyssa Smokey earned the win in the circle for the 'Jacks only allowing two runs. Final score 6-2.Â

On Friday and Saturday Humboldt played conference games against San Francisco State. The 'Jacks struck first posting a total of 4 runs through the first three innings. The Gators responded back and tied the game up in the sixth inning. Unable to score in the seventh the game continued in the eighth. The Gators took the win after some situational hitting with a sac bunt to move the winning run to second base and a double down left field line to take the walk-off win, 5-4. Game highlight was Izzy Starr hitting a home run over left field earning her third of the week. Game 2 was another close game and started with the Gators getting on the board first. It was 2-0 going into the top of the fifth and Vanessa Saltos cut the deficit in half after a home run over the left field fence. Unable to score in the final two innings the 'Jacks took the loss 1-2. Day two of the series Humboldt was unable to turn it around dropping both games, 4-6 and 0-5.Â

The 'Jacks are back in action March 22-24 for a five game road trip as they play in Turlock at the Tournament of Champions hosted by Stanislaus State.
