ARCATA, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball battled hard in front of a spirited home crowd at Lumberjack Arena on Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell in straight sets to Cal State Monterey Bay (3-14, 2-8 CCAA). The Lumberjacks drop to 1-17 overall and 1-9 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.
Despite the 3-0 final score, the Lumberjacks showed grit and competitiveness, especially in the first and third sets where they pushed the Otters to the limit, dropping both by only three points.
Team Performance
Cal Poly Humboldt struggled to find offensive rhythm early, hitting just .083 in the opening frame, but rebounded with improved efficiency in the third set, posting a .300 hitting percentage. Defensively, the 'Jacks recorded 28 digs and tallied five service aces in a solid serving performance.
CSUMB, meanwhile, hit .327 as a team and totaled 45 kills, led by Zoe Haan's match-high 15. The Otters also outpaced Humboldt in assists (41-22), digs (46-28), and points (55.0-46.0), leaning on their strong second-set showing where they hit .500 as a team.
