Volleyball Heads to Bay Area for Back-to-Back CCAA Matchups

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball continues its CCAA schedule this week with a two-match road trip to the Bay Area, beginning with a clash at San Francisco State (3-8, 2-2 CCAA) on Friday, Oct. 3, at 5 p.m. PT in the Main Gym At Don Nasser Family Plaza. The match will be followed by a matchup at Cal State Monterey Bay (2-9, 1-3 CCAA) on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. PT at The Kelp Bed in Seaside. The Lumberjacks look to translate competitive stretches into full-match performances as they seek their first conference victory of the season.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lumberjacks (0-12, 0-4 CCAA) battled hard in their most recent outing, falling 3-0 at Stanislaus State on Saturday evening at Fitzpatrick Arena.

Freshman Emma Fauth stood out with a match-high four service aces, eight digs, and a block while Graysen Trupp led Humboldt offensively with nine kills. Tatyana Jennings added five kills and Hollis Downing contributed four. Setter Brielle Wilson orchestrated the offense with 12 assists and senior libero Sophia Spoja anchored the back row with 12 digs. Overall, the Jacks totaled 30 kills and seven aces, showing flashes of strong play against the Warriors.

CLOSING THE GATES ON THE GATORS

San Francisco State (3-8, 2-2 CCAA) will host Humboldt on Friday in a chance for the Lumberjacks to test their adjustments on the road. Humboldt will aim to frustrate the Gators' attack while improving their own offensive efficiency and maintaining competitiveness throughout each set.

The Gators have taken the last 13 matchups against the 'Jacks. With Humboldt's last win coming in 2017, the squad will look to end that streak on the road.

OUTMATCHING THE OTTERS

Cal State Monterey Bay (2-9, 1-4 CCAA) welcomes Humboldt on Saturday in the second leg of the road swing. The Lumberjacks will look to translate lessons from Friday's contest into a focused performance, aiming to generate consistent offensive opportunities and strengthen defensive cohesion against a well-rounded Otters squad.

In their last matchup, the Lumberjacks took a set in a 3-1 loss. Humboldt looks to turn it around this time around.
