Lumberjacks Volleyball Hits the Road to Face Cougars, Broncos

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball returns to the road this weekend for a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchups in Southern California. The Lumberjacks (1-17, 1-9 CCAA) will take on Cal State San Marcos on Friday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. PT, followed by Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. PT.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lumberjacks wrapped up their homestand with a competitive effort against Cal State Monterey Bay, showing resilience despite a 3-0 defeat (22-25, 17-25, 22-25). Humboldt pushed the Otters to the wire in the first and third sets and displayed growth on both sides of the ball.

Tatyana Jennings led the offensive charge with nine kills, while setter Brielle Wilson dished out 20 assists and added four aces to pace the service game. Libero Elizabeth Jade Andrade anchored the defense with nine digs, and Rahni Greene contributed two blocks at the net.

Humboldt's best stretch came in the third set, when the 'Jacks hit .300 as a team and maintained consistent energy throughout a tightly contested frame. The group will look to carry that momentum into this weekend's conference road trip.

CAL STATE SAN MARCOS

Cal State San Marcos (3-15, 2-8 CCAA) enters Friday's match near the bottom of the CCAA standings despite recording two wins in their last four outings. The Cougars split their most recent weekend, defeating Cal State Dominguez Hills, but losing to Cal State San Bernardino. In their most recent matchup, the Lumberjacks fell short in a close 3-2 battle that saw Humboldt up 2-0 in sets early on.

Humboldt will aim to disrupt San Marcos' rhythm with strong serving and steady defense, key factors that kept the 'Jacks competitive in their last meeting. The matchup also marks Humboldt's second meeting with the Cougars this season.

CAL POLY POMONA

Saturday's opponent, Cal Poly Pomona (12-4, 10-0 CCAA) returns home after a sweep weekend on the road. The Broncos are undefeated in CCAA play and have won in a clean three sets in over half of their conference games. The Broncos dominated in their last meeting with the 'Jacks, but Humboldt will seek to turn things around.
