ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball battled through a competitive first set but ultimately fell in straight sets to San Francisco State (27-29, 17-25, 13-25) on Thursday evening inside Lumberjack Arena.
The Lumberjacks (2-23, 2-15 CCAA) came out strong in the opening frame, pushing the Gators (11-13, 10-7 CCAA) to extra points before narrowly dropping the set, 29-27. Despite a resilient start, San Francisco State found its rhythm offensively, hitting .243 on the night compared to Humboldt's .035.
Graysen Trupp and Tatyana Jennings paced the Jacks' attack with six kills apiece, while Emma Fauth added four. Setter Brielle Wilson dished out 19 assists and contributed two service aces, tying with Sophia Spoja and Delaney Buchanan, who also tallied two aces each.
Defensively, Kendall Fenstermacher led the back row with 14 digs, followed by Spoja with 10 in a strong all-around effort.
The Gators were led by Aidan Goodrich's 15 kills and four blocks, while setter Melanie Hewlett recorded 29 assists. Tamiya Wilson also recorded five service aces.
Cal Poly Humboldt will close out the 2025 season on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when the Jacks host Cal State East Bay for Senior Day, honoring the team's lone senior, Sophia Spoja, prior to first serve at Lumberjack Arena.
