ARCATA, Calif. — The Cal Poly Humboldt wrestling team continued its scorching start to the 2025 season with an impressive dual sweep Saturday, dominating Sacramento City College 39–9 before pulling off a statement upset over No. 20 nationally ranked San Francisco State, 30–15. The pair of victories improves the Lumberjacks to a perfect 5–0 on the year.
Against Sacramento City, Humboldt came out firing, winning eight of ten bouts in commanding fashion. The Jacks earned bonus points in six of those wins, including three first-period pins and three technical falls.

125 lbs: Garen Keshishian opened the dual with a 19–3 tech fall in 5:33.

133 lbs: Ben Quilpa followed with a 13–6 decision.

141 lbs: Darrell Nanpuya rolled to a 20–4 tech fall at 6:21 against a former Division I opponent.

149 lbs: Jayson Victoria continued the momentum, pinning his opponent in just 2:06.

157 lbs: Joe Anthony Perez kept the bonus streak alive with a fall at 1:20.

165 lbs: Frank Almaguer needed only 1:13 to secure another first-period pin.

174 lbs: Nathan Vasquez added a 15–0 tech fall.

184 lbs: Sage Adie closed out Humboldt's run with a 13–10 decision.
The dominant 39–9 win set the tone for the evening matchup with San Francisco State, where the Lumberjacks delivered their biggest statement of the season—taking down the nationally ranked Gators for the program's second top-20 upset since reinstating wrestling at Cal Poly Humboldt. Results from the San Francisco State dual were not posted at the time of this article.
Leading the charge once again was Darrell Nanpuya, who notched one of the highlight moments of the dual with a decisive pin that electrified the Humboldt bench and sealed the upset. His back-to-back victories anchored a Humboldt squad firing on all cylinders.
The Lumberjacks' 5–0 start marks the program's best since its return to competition. Humboldt will look to carry its momentum into next weekend's action as it continues its climb up the NCAA Division II ranks.
Humboldt will compete next at the Roadrunner Open, hosted by Cal State Bakersfield at the Icardo Center on Sunday, November 23 with matches beginning at 9:00 AM.
