Humboldt Rolls Past Monterey Bay in 3-0 Shutout Victory

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer defended their turf in style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday afternoon at College Creek Field. The win marked the Lumberjacks' seventh shutout in conference play and 10th on the season, improving their record to 6-5-6 overall and 4-2-4 in the CCAA.

The 'Jacks struck early and often, opening the scoring in the 15th minute when defender Kyla Okamoto finished from close range off a clean setup by midfielder Nicole Beauchemin. Humboldt continued to build momentum throughout the first half, controlling possession and pressing in the attacking third.

In the 38th minute, freshman forward Sari Murphy doubled the lead with a goal of her own, slotting home a ball from Frida Duran Arellano, with Camryn Patten also earning an assist on the play. The 'Jacks took a 2-0 advantage into halftime, outshooting the Otters 5-2 in the opening period.

Humboldt's defense remained composed after the break, with goalkeepers Ariana Beddoes and Carson Thomson-Terrel combining for three saves and another clean sheet. Thomson-Terrel stopped all three shots she faced in the second half.

The final blow came in the 73rd minute, when senior forward Annie Hoffman buried a penalty kick to seal the 3-0 result. The goal was Hoffman's second of the year and capped a strong offensive performance in Humboldt's final match at home of the regular season.
