Double Overtime Thriller: Ardouin and Jenkins Lead Lumberjacks to Second Straight Win

ROCKLIN, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt men's basketball outlasted Jessup University in a double-overtime thriller Saturday night, earning an 85–80 victory behind a combined 60 points from Drew Ardouin and Rob Jenkins.

Ardouin caught fire early and never cooled off, finishing with 32 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including five three-pointers. Jenkins added 28 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in a gutsy all-around effort that saw him deliver in the game's biggest moments.

The Lumberjacks (now winners of two straight) trailed late in regulation before Jenkins drilled a clutch three-pointer with four seconds left to force overtime. After both teams traded blows through the first extra period, Jenkins struck again—this time with a driving layup in the closing second—to send the game to a second overtime.

From there, Humboldt closed the door. Ardouin and Jenkins combined to sink the team's final five free throws to seal the win as Jessup's last-second rally fell short.

Dorrell Thomas added nine points off the bench for Humboldt, while Shakir Odunewu also scored nine and grabbed four rebounds. Zaveion Bineyard anchored the defense with 11 boards as the 'Jacks matched Jessup on the glass, 39–39.

The Lumberjacks shot 45.3 percent from the field and 78.3 percent from the free-throw line, outpacing Jessup's 40 percent shooting effort. Despite 16 lead changes and nine ties, Humboldt's composure down the stretch made the difference in securing the road win.

"Really proud of the group on how they stayed together and finished off the weekend," said head coach DJ Broome. "Any time you can come out on top of a double overtime game shows the resiliency of the group and is a great sign for us down the road as we continue to build. Rob and Drew were ridiculous tonight, and obviously their scoring jumps off the stat sheet, but I thought Dorrell, Ray and Cash gave us much needed minutes off the bench that really pushed us over the top."

Varick Lewis led Jessup with 21 points, while Caden McDaniel added 17.

Cal Poly Humboldt will look to extend its winning streak when they travel to Alaska next weekend for their final pair of non-conference road games on Friday and Saturday.
