LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt battled through a competitive second set but ultimately fell in straight sets to Cal State LA, 15–25, 28–30, 21–25, on Friday evening inside University Gym.
Graysen Trupp led the Lumberjacks with nine kills, while Brielle Wilson turned in another all-around performance with seven kills, 24 assists, four digs, and two aces. Rahni Greene provided an efficient spark offensively, recording five kills on eight swings for a team-best .625 hitting percentage.
Sophia Spoja anchored the defense with a team-high seven digs, while Isabella Hartwig added six kills and a match-leading four blocks at the net.
After dropping the opening frame, Humboldt came alive in the second, hitting .313 as a team while pushing the Golden Eagles to extra points before falling 28-30. Cal Poly Humboldt kept the pressure on in the third set but could not overcome Cal State LA's .343 team attack percentage on the night.
The Lumberjacks finished with 34 kills, 33 assists, and 28 digs, showing resilience against one of the CCAA's top programs.
Cal Poly Humboldt (2–21, 2–13 CCAA) continues its Southern California road trip on Saturday, facing Cal State San Bernardino at 5 p.m.
