ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt women's volleyball continues its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schedule on the road this week, taking on Cal State Los Angeles on Friday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. PT before meeting Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. PT.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lumberjacks (2-20, 2-12 CCAA) started their latest homestand on a high note with one of their most exciting wins of the season, rallying from an 0-2 deficit to defeat Cal State Dominguez Hills in a five-set thriller at Lumberjack Arena.
Humboldt found its spark midway through the third set and never looked back, winning 26-24, 25-23, and 15-13 to complete the reverse sweep. Graysen Trupp led the attack with 14 kills and a career-high five aces, while Isabella Hartwig added 11 kills and six total blocks. Brielle Wilson turned in an all-around performance with 42 assists, 16 digs, and eight kills, and Sophia Spoja anchored the defense with 25 digs.
The victory marked Humboldt's second conference win of the season and showcased the team's resilience and growth against a Dominguez Hills squad.
Two days later, Humboldt fell in straight sets to Cal State East Bay as the Pioneers capitalized on home-court momentum to sweep the series. The loss offered a preview of this weekend's rematch, where the 'Jacks will look to flip the script.
CAL STATE LOS ANGELES
Cal State East Bay (15-6, 11-3 CCAA) enters Friday's contest looking to climb the conference standings after falling in two of their last three matches. Cal State LA relies on efficient attacking and strong serve receive, posing a consistent challenge at Pioneer Gymnasium. With improved ball control and the balanced hitting approach shown against Dominguez Hills, the 'Jacks will aim to carry their momentum into a key road matchup.
CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO
The road trip continues against perennial conference powerhouse Cal State San Bernardino (16-5, 11-3 CCAA). The Coyotes bring a potent attack and disciplined defense that have kept them near the top of the CCAA leaderboard.
For Humboldt, the meeting presents an opportunity to test its progress against one of the conference's elite. In their most recent matchup, the Lumberjacks fell in three sets at home. The 'Jacks will look to extend rallies, stay aggressive at the service line, and build confidence heading into the final stretch of the season.
